Week 1 Hosted Bristol Bay Lodge Report
Hosted Bristol Bay Lodge Report, our first group of the season has just returned from Bristol Bay Lodge and although hampered with unbearable gales the first two days, once the weather settled down all the customers got into some amazing fishing. It looks like a record year on the Sockeye also with a larger than average size with lots of fish over 10LB so everyone was into plenty of fish. The Chum Salmon were also big and in a true hard flighting form giving everyone some arm wrenching sport.
Also providing great sport was the Dolly Varden and Grayling going very well, to make a change from the Salmon customers skating Chenoble ants across the water surface with explosive takes.
The main target for everyone was the fly fishing for Kings and they were also present in good numbers with all the group catching plenty of healthy Kings to 35LB all on the fly. In total, the group had 9 different species on the fly which just goes to show, although you travel for the Salmon the variety at BBL is enough to keep everyone happy.
One particular note was Khan, as this was his very first trip casting a fly. Even though it was his first time and having to deal with casting heavy weighted flies and sink tips he held his own and caught at least his fair share of the fish.
A huge thank you to the whole group who I will be talking to personally over the next week. When I am sure I will get lots more stories and also a good selection of pictures to share with everyone.

As we type Phil Barker is back out at BBL with the second full group so a full report will be coming soon, so keep watching.
