Norway Fishing Report Yearly Update

Norway Fishing Report Yearly Update

Norway Fishing Report We have just been sent this Norway Fishing Report from our camps in North Norway; I will let the guides take it from here.

This months Norway Fishing Report is always a good month for a mixed fishery, with lots of huge Halibut caught along with big Cod and some very good Plaice fishing. Our camps are always very busy at this time of year due to the weather being very settled and the fishing being red hot.

I shall start the Norway Fishing Report with our camp in Soroya:

The beginning of the month was very windy making getting to the further out marks very difficult, but the fishing close in near the harbour can not be ignored as this can be very productive for small Halibut, Plaice to 3kg’s and Cat fish. The area around the docks is very sandy making it a perfect home for the species mentioned as you will see by this Norway Fishing Report.

Once the weather had eased off it was time to hit the “Big Cold Comforter” which is a mark around 1hour bout steam from the camp. This area is one of the best marks we know for huge Halibut and we weren’t let down! First trip out there and we managed a Halibut of 155cm and many more around the 100 – 130cm. we also target the shoals of Cod out there with great success catching them to 24kg

Next on our Norway Fishing Report is Havoysund:

This destination is very close to my heart as it is where I grew up so I know the area fairly well. There are many marks that have been productive for me this month with Halibut ranging from 100cm – 185cm which was caught by the daughter of a family staying with us. She was so excited with catching such a big wild fish, once we unhooked the Halibut and took some pictures she requested that she could get in the water with the great fish whilst we released it (as you will be able to see from the pictures she didn’t want to let it go)

Along with many Halibut that were caught we also managed lots of Cod to around 18kg and some brilliant Plaice fishing which can be found a stones throw from the cabins. These Plaice are of an excellent stamp, with each one averaging around the 1.9kg weight topped by a 2.9kg!!

We also have arranged a Buffett style evening at our restaurant on a Saturday evening serving King Crab and many other tasty bites which all anglers are invited to.
