This week, the Andaman Islands had a visit from a familiar face, who wanted to target some of the more colourful smaller species that the Andaman has on offer.

We’ve been quiet for a while because we’ve been out fishing. We opened the season with repeat angler, Vivek, who recently came on a quick trip with us to catch GT on poppers. This was his first trip chasing GT in the Andaman Islands. After a dozen GT, he decided to return as soon as work would allow him to do so!
Sure enough, we had Vivek back with us and this time it was a specific light jig fishing trip. Vivek was keen to fish for many of the fascinating species that we have on our reefs here. We carried light jig rods rated for upto 100 gram jigs, along with 4000 to 5000 sized reels spooled with Pe1 to 2. We carried dozens of 40 to 80 gram jigs which were more than sufficient for the task at hand. We had an amazing time fishing light and soon lost count of the fish we caught and released. Unfortunately, a busy schedule didn’t allow him to spend more time fishing.
We have Vivek returning to fish with us in the coming weeks. He will be spending more time experiencing the great fishing we offer from one of the many islands we fish from. Also, you could travel single to the Andaman Islands and we will find you a group to join so you could share experiences and costs.
