Fly Fishing for Salmon in Alaska is what anglers dreams are made of. Located on the Kanektok River only 5.5 miles from its mouth, the Alaska West camp is by all standards a remarkably diverse fishery. Perfectly suited to both single-hand and Spey anglers and offering one of the best opportunities for fly fishing for Salmon in Alaska where high catch-rates and easy wading is the norm.

Where is the Lodge?

The far southwest coast of Alaska on the Kanektok River.

Where do they fish?

The first nineteen miles from the mouth of the Kanektok.  Our camp is just seven miles inland from the Bering Sea.

How long does it take to reach the fishing grounds?

We are right on the river, you can fish from our lodge if you wish.

What fish will I catch?

All five species of Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char and Grayling. Are resident in the local waters around this lodge.

How many fish will I catch?

When fishing at Alaska West you could catch many fish depending on the time of year.

How do they fish?

At this camp, you will be casting flies trying to catch the Salmon that run these waters

Novice, intermediate and advanced anglers can enjoy the variety of fishing we offer.

What skill level is required?

We have extremely experienced guides at this destination so even those with not much experience at all will have a great fishing experience

How physically demanding is this trip?

It is important that guests feel comfortable with a short walk and getting in and out of river sleds.

When to go?

Our season is from late June through the end of August.

How to get there?

Guest fly to Anchorage and take a charter that we organize from Anchorage to the river.

What is the accommodation like?

We are best described as a ‘tent lodge’ with customers staying in stylish tented accommodation.

What is the food like?

The food is excellent.  Buffet style breakfast, sandwich bar, shore lunches and buffet-style dinners.

Does the lodge provide fishing tackle?

We can provide rods, reels, lines, flies, waders and wading boots.

Is internet and phone signal available?

Yes.

Are there other activities available?

Fishing is the primary activity at this lodge but you can still take in the local wildlife if you wish.
