The world is opening up, and soon it will be time to go fishing. As we all know, things are changing on a week-by-week basis, but things are looking brighter in general. At the same time, we wait for the UK government to advise us of its plan to start tourism again on 12th April. We can take a look a which countries currently will allow people from the UK to enter.
Alaska, great news for all of our Salmon anglers; the state of Alaska has now removed all travel restrictions for people from the UK; all you need is a negative test taken 72 before arrival. Usually, all our customers travel to Alaska via Seattle, which is in the state of Washington. The good news is that Seattle introduces new measures on 12th April and given the UK’s current infection levels, this will you to travel through with only requiring a negative test before arrival.
The Bahamas, Want to get some saltwater action? The Bahamas is open for UK visitors; all you need is to complete a government health visa application before travel and a negative Covid test five days before arrival.
Belize has been open for a while, but until recently, as flights are generally via the USA, it was still challenging to get there. But know, with Seattle opening up and regular flights between Seattle and Belize is back on. Entry requirements are downloading the Belizean health App and completing all the required information 72 hours before arrival. You also need a negative Covid test within 96 hours of boarding the international flight.
Costa Rica, great news for anyone looking for either some big game fishing, popper fishing, or even fly fishing for the mighty tarpon. Costa Rica welcomes visitors from the UK; there is no need for a negative Covid test. All you need is to prove that on arrival, you have specific travel insurance that covers you if you get Covid while in the country and complete in advance epidemiological information form.
Guinea Bissau, for all you anglers looking for some all-round action with lots of saltwater species. Guinea Bissea now only requires a negative Covid test 72 hours before arrival.
Iceland, Great news for anyone who wants to have 1st class fly fishing for both Atlantic Salmon and Brown Trout, as Iceland has announced that over the coming week, it will remove all entry requirements for everyone who has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Mexico. Again great news for all our fly anglers looking to get to the flats searching for the Bonefish and tarpon, plus all our Big game anglers looking for those unforgettable days out of Cabo big game fishing. No entry requirements for UK visitors.
Namibia, offering fantastic shore fishing, is now open to the UK; all you need is a negative Covid test 72 hours before arrival and then undergo medical screening on arrival with temperature checks.
Tanzania government has removed mandatory 14-day quarantine requirements for visitors on arrival and the need for a negative COVID-19 test. Tanzania is implementing temperature screening for passengers on arrival. This should hopefully see us getting in some fantastic Tigerfish fishing sometime this season.
This is only a tiny percentage of the destinations we operate in, there is lots of movement and discussion about the remaining ones, and we will keep you informed as things progress.
We like you are so looking forward to the day we can boar a plane again, sit back and look forward to an exciting week fishing somewhere in the world.
