Bonaventure & Salmon Lodge Fishing Report June 6th to 12th

Bonaventure & Salmon Lodge Fishing Report June 6th to 12th

In fishing sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for, as you will see from this weeks fishing reports, having said that everyone still manages to catch fish.

FISHING REPORT

In our last report we mentioned the weatherman was predicting ” a considerable amount of rain” for our area. So nothing to worry about as rain is always welcome and wished for when you run fishing lodges, especially 2 Atlantic Salmon fishing lodges.  Rain is always welcome, well, until now!

“Enough rain for the rest of the month”

The week started off well with a few fish hooked in our lower pools on Monday and Tuesday . Just as we were getting geared up for a great week, the sky’s opened and dumped enough rain for the rest of the month.

The Bonaventure was flowing at 90 cubic meters per second, a slight bit high but very fishable for this time of the season. Three days of heavy rain on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday dumbed over 90 mm or 3 inches on us. The Bony rose to 260, The Petite Cascapedia to 220 and the Grand Cascapedia to 225.

As I’m writing this report the weather is now warm and sunny, just what we need. However that’s the good news, the bad is that we are supposed to get another 20 mm tomorrow, not as much however as they were predicting. We just have to deal with high water for another few days but the long range forecasts is showing sunny and warmer from mid week on.

As the expression goes “short term pain for long term gain” Hopefully next weeks report will have a few pics of big fish and most importantly lower water.

On a more positive note at least this means we have plenty of water for the next few weeks and with all our rivers filling up fast with fresh fish, the outlook for the coming season is looking good. As you can see our customers still managed to connect with fish on their trip given the high water which just goes to show us how special this place really is.

We are already heavily booked for next season 2017, we do have a couple of rods left on the Sportquest Hosted week, for full details Click Here
