For many years one of the most unspoilt saltwater destinations around the world has been the fly fishing in Cuba. The saltwater flats offer numerous opportunities for fly fishing anglers for Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit and Snook. At certain times of year the migratory Tarpon come in to the channels and flats providing fly fishing anglers multiple chances at Tarpon well over 100 pound on the fly. Fishing in Cuba is available both – on the north and southern coastlines along with some remote islands Cayo Largo and Isle of Youth.

Cuba is a country that is made up of the island of Cuba and several other small archipelagos. Situated in the Carribean Sea, Cuba is a true paradise.

When fly fishing in Cuba an angler will be faced with so many possibilities of species to target and areas to fish. The exotic saltwater flats that can be found on the surrounding coastline offer the opportunity for some out of this world angling.

You could encounter Bonefish, Permit and even Snook. Snook is one of the fish that many travelling fly anglers journey to Cuba for.  The mighty silver king, the one and only Tarpon, is also another favourite in Cuba. These Cuban Tarpon can reach sizes equivocal to a Behemoth. The Tarpon fishing here is some of the best you will find anywhere in the world and the sight fishing for Tarpon in Cuba is unrivalled.

With many different destinations to fish in Cuba, the travelling angler is spoilt for choice. One such destination is Cayo Cruz, situated on the North Coast in the Jardines de Rey. This stunning location is an area made up of flats, lagoons and immaculate estuarine areas. Cayo Cruz is a very good destination when fly fishing in Cuba to target Bonefish. Along with this, it is also an area renowned for its Permit fishing.

This is not the only destination in Cuba to sample exquisite fly fishing. Other destinations highly recommended in Cuba include Cayo Largo, Jardines de la Reina and the phenomenal Isle of Youth which is located 100km of the coast of mainland Cuba.
