Goodnews River Lodge Fishing Report August
Goodnews River Lodge never lets any of our customers down, Gary and his team pullout all the stops to ensure that everyone has a good time. One nice thing about this season is the extremely high rebooking rate from customers.
Below is a quick report of how the fishing was the 1st two weeks of August. We hope you enjoy the report and pictures and if you would like to join us in 2017 we still have the odd space for the 2017 season.
FISHING REPORT
Well the rain finally came, and did it ever. We received on and off showers for the last 7 days. The river jumped up 16 inches or so, and with it came some colored up water. This also brought in our first real big push of Silvers. Our customers were averaging 10-15 hook ups per day as the week drew to an end. Floating lines with large flies were getting it done in soft water edges and sloughs. Trout fishing has slowed down due to the highwater, but a few are still being found in braids and behind spawners when you can spot them. The grayling fishing has remained steady but its a long boat ride and or hike to find them in the upper reaches where the water is clearer. Dolly fishing is spotty, but when we do find them they can average between 14 and 24 inches.
“Our congratulations go to Brad for landing all five species of salmon and Steelhead in one day! “
Top water has been fair to good in the morning for Coho, but as the river begins to clear we expect it to get better and better. We are already seeing some larger fish push in, and guests landed multiple Coho in the 13-15lb range. Weather this week is mostly cloudy with showers on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, and a shot of some sun in between.
We have some limited rods available for 2017 so please do not delay and be disappointed. You can see the full details of our trips to Goodnews River Lodge Click Here
