The accommodation is located in Haddo a small village in Port Blair, South Andaman
Where do they fish?
Each day you will fish Ritchie’s Archipelago which has islands like Havelock, Neil, Sir Hugh Rose, Henry Lawrence, John Lawrence and Outram to name a few. We also fish South Andaman and Little Andaman
How long does it take to reach the fishing grounds?
The closest spot is half-hour boat ride away or 12 nautical miles away. The average travel time is 45 to 60 minutes so hardly any time wasted driving to far away marks
What fish will I catch?
With in the season you will be targeting Giant Trevally, Dog Tooth Tuna, Yellow Fin Tuna, Blue Fin Trevally, Spanish Mackerel, Almaco Jack, Barracuda, Greater Barracuda, Wahoo, Grouper, Shark, Red Bass, Coral Trout, Blue / Black / Striped Marlin, Skip Jack, Bonito and Dorado
How many fish will I catch?
On an average day one can expect to catch 5 – 20 fish depending on the style of fishing
How do they fish?
The main style of fishing will be Popping and Jigging. If this gets too much then you can spend some time Trolling or Live Bait fishing
Do the guides speak English?
Our guides speak very good English
Who is best suited to this destination?
Single anglers, couples, groups of fishing friends
What skill level is required?
Amateur to seasoned anglers are best suited to this style of fishing as you must know how to cast and be comfortable standing on a boat
How physically demanding is this trip?
Popping and jigging trips are strenuous. They involve casting surface lures and dropping jigs all day often under the hot sun. Guests will need to be in relatively good shape and drink lots of water to make the most of the day
When to go?
The season runs from September to May with the peak times being October & November and March & April
How to get there?
The most straight forward route is from London to Chennai then an internal flight from Chennai to Port Blair
What is the accommodation like?
The standard accommodation in Port Blair is a simple basic guesthouse. All accommodation is on Single share with A/C. The guest house is conveniently located within walking distance from where the boats are moored.
What is the food like?
Most of the food you will be eating is Indian food. Plus the fish can be bought back and can be cooked on the spot.
Does the lodge provide fishing tackle?
Fishing rod and reel is available on hire. Guests are requested to carry their own terminal tackle, or it can be pre ordered from the local tackle store. A full list of hire equipment and tackle will be given on time of booking
Is internet and phone signal available?
Intermittent internet signal. Mobile phone operators BSNL and Airtel work
Are there other activities available?
Yes – local sightseeing, travel to other islands all can be booked once you have arrived.
