Los Crestones Duck & Perdiz Report 2013
Los Crestones Duck & Perdiz Report 2013 The Los Crestones season kicked off in early May with warm weather and outstanding duck and perdiz hunts. By mid-month the first big cold front arrived and helped drive more and more ducks into the area.
Rosy bills arrived earlier than usual and by May 15 huge flocks had settled into several of our hunting areas. Perdiz hunting is also good due to prolific hatches and plenty of cover. The cold weather will make hunting even better as morning frosts thin the pastures, making it easier for the dogs to work. Dove shooting remains consistent, with guns burning an average of 12 boxes during evening shoots.
All told, we’re having the best early season since Los Crestones opened its doors to intrepid hunters three years ago. Our big game hunting has been exceptional thanks to leasing a couple of great new ranches. And our first big game hunters this season scored three beautiful black bucks.
