Palma De Cortez Fishing Report 5/31/13
Hola Amigos, We are really starting to heat up down on the East Cape. The air temperature is now in the low to mid 90’s and water temps. are just about to hit 80 degrees. But that’s not really what I meant when I said things were heating up. The fishing is on fire right now! If you have sailfish or striped marlin on your bucket list, you need to get on a plane right now. They are in super thick at the moment and each day seems to be better than the next.
Today at Palmas De Cortez we had 18 boats go out fishing. They caught and released 49 Sailfish and 31-stripped Marlin today alone. I must give major props to the cruiser “Whisky” who landed 17 billfish today while fishing in the Pro-Angler tournament. In addition to the great billfish fishing, the dorado are starting to pick up slowly but surely. Although we are not seeing any great numbers, we are seeing some nice size fish. Most of the dorado have been 30-40 pound range
To the north, we are seeing lots of roosters and sierra. That has been pretty steady now for about 3 weeks. It seems once guests get tired of catching billfish, they head north to play with the roosters and sierra. We had one boat the “Tenacious” run 50 miles south to look for tuna, but came back empty handed. Water temps are almost right, so we should start seeing them soon. That’s it for this week my friends
Until next week! Saludos!
