Palma De Cortez Fishing Report After Hurricane

As you may of heard, Mexico has finally started taking tourists again after one of the worst storms battered the shores of this most stunning part of the World and luckily our resort, Palma De Cortez, only sustained a few broken windows

Back in the middle of September this year we were getting a few reports of storms building up in Mexico and didn’t really think to much about it as it had not appeared any where on any of our News channels. Well, that was the start of things that quickly turned very bad and all we could do was to call and reassure our customers who were either travelling to Mexico or were already there.

Finally things started to filter through to us in the UK and we very quickly reacted where it needed action and after speaking with our customers we felt that things were under control.

With that aside for now, Mexico has now opened its doors and we are pleased to see that guys and girls are catching fish once again. With reports coming in now it is hard to believe the devastation that was caused has been dealt with so quickly.

Anglers have been enjoying an incredible wahoo bite that came out of left field. Most boats are landing at least one wahoo per day, with others coming in with as many as 6 wahoo in a day. This is the best wahoo bite we have seen all season. The tuna bite has also been phenomenal this week, with mostly football size tuna being landed, but we are seeing a few in the 40lb class. Many boats are limiting out on tuna each day. The Dorado bite has also been great this past week. This we expected to see, as usually after a storm we enjoy some great Dorado fishing. Again nothing too big, but we have seen a few in the 30lb class.

Other species being landed include roosters, pompano, jacks, sailfish, striped marlin and Triggerfish. The weather is beautiful as it always is this time of year. The humidity is dropping and the sun is shining brightly with highs in the lower 90’s and lows in the low 70’s. Water temps have been in the low 80’s. It’s a great time to be in Mexico and if you would like to have the opportunity to visit Mexico then simply call me on 01603 407596 and you could be fishing there sooner than you thought
