Top Sea Fishing Destinations IN NORWAY

Sea fishing is an ever-growing sport enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. We send 1000’s of anglers away each year on our sea fishing holidays where they have the chance to target some truly monstrous beasts from the deeps.

Over the years we have been providing anglers with the best sea fishing adventures to all manner of Norwegian destinations that all specialise in certain species. When we started to build our Norway destinations it was important to us that we offered anglers lots of different options to cover peoples budgets, what they are looking to catch and another option is to be fully guided.

We have listed below our most popular destinations and a very brief description on each destination. Further information can be found by following the links on each destination. If you do have any questions about any of our Norway destinations then why not call us on 01603 407596 or contact us directly on any of our Facebook pages:

Soroya

This is one destination anglers wishing to target monster Cod should want to head out to. Soroya is an Island located up in the Arctic circle and the waters surrounding it are full of nutrients and baitfish, this attracts the monster Skrei Cod that are migrating down from the Barents Sea to spawn in February, March and April. These fish reach weights in excess of 100lb, which compared to UK standards, are absolutely huge. In the summer months, the Halibut fishing around the Island takes some beating. There are many different options available from your holiday to Soroya, from upgrading the accommodation, full board accommodation in their hotel, upgraded boats, guided fishing days and so on. So why not pick some dates and get in touch.

Havoysund

If you want big Halibut then Havoysund is the perfect sea fishing holiday for you. This fishing village in Northern Norway is home to some truly spectacular Halibut grounds that produce 200lb plus fish each year.  It is not only the Halibut that attract anglers year after year to Havoysund, but this area can also offer some truly phenomenal Plaice fishing with the chance of a double-figure fish a big possibility. Havoysund is the most northerly part of Norway you can get to and a short drive away from the world-famous North Cape a truly spectacular fishing area. At Havoysund there is the chance to be guided during your week or of course you can opt for the self-drive holiday. Onsite we have a great bar and restaurant that makes things a little more comfortable if you do not like cooking.

Å

The camp of Å is found on the Lofoten Islands and is another destination that is capable of producing some truly astronomical fishing. This area has what is known as a stream which is a 20 minute steam from the harbour. This stream is a current between two islands which at certain stages of the tide will pick up to a ferocious speed. This attracts the big Halibut and Coalfish that reside here as they hang on the edges of this current picking up the various bait items that are knocked about and then kicked out of the flow. This is also the sea fishing holiday to head out on if you wish to try and target big Coalfish on the surface with poppers and surface lures. Å is most famous for producing Halibut over 2m, in fact, they produce more 2-metre Halibut than all our destination put together. Another advantage of this location is the on-site bar/restaurant offering full board. If you not keen on driving the boats we offer 4 weeks a year where you can opt to join a fully hosted weeks where you can simply sit back and fish and let someone else worry about driving the boat. These can be found here

Mefjord

The fishing village of Mefjord is located on Senja Island and at the mouth of a large fjord. The main attraction of this camp is that that it is located short steam from the open sea with some amazing fishing marks being under 15 minutes from your front door. This is a great destination for the angler wishing to target Skrei Cod, these big Cod travel down from the Barents Sea to spawn and congregate in huge shoals on the rising plateaus just outside of the fjord. In the wintertime, this can produce some astounding sport with the summer fishing producing Cod, Halibut and Coalfish in numbers. Mefjord Brygge is the complete resort with numerous options with regards to accommodation. We have single/twin room hotel accommodation, standard 4 person twin room cabins, large cabins for up to 8 people and house style accommodation. We can also offer a full board option which can be taken at the on-site bar/restaurant. There is also a large luxury boat that is fully skippered which is a great option for larger groups looking to be taken out fishing and taken care of. If you really want to push the boat out we can organise a helicopter transfer which will pick you up from the local airport and fly you to the resort landing outside your cabin. A truly unique sea fishing destination.

Vesteralen

This camp is found in Northern Norway and is proving to be a massive hit with the customers we are sending out there. From big Halibut to big Ling, this camp has it all. On top of this, the camp is very family-friendly.  All our customers returning from here are giving us glowing reports with multiple big fish being caught here throughout the months it’s open. With such great fishing in stunning scenery, this really is a place that should be on your must-visit list for sea fishing destinations. The fishing on offer at Vesterålen is very mixed and is certainly a destination that I would recommend to a group looking for a mixed bag of fish. Areas such as Jurassic Park is one such place that you must visit while fishing. It is just over 1.5hrs from the marina but well worth it as you will be catching huge Cod, Ling, Coalfish and Halibut all in the same location. The other advantage of this location is that you get to fish both open ocean and fjords meaning that if the weather is a little tricky to get out to the open seas then you can opt to fish in very sheltered fjords. We have full-time guides at this location who are more than happy to jump on your boat and take you out for a day to show you the ropes.

Nappstraumen

Nappstraumen is found on the eastern side of the Lofoten Islands. This beautiful destination is set in some of the most magnificent scenery that you will find in Norway, surrounded by towering mountains that lead into a glistening fjord, your breath will be taken away when you first set eyes upon this destination. The Lofoten Islands are world-famous for this phenomenal scenery that you will be fishing in. Lofoten Islands is rated as one of the best destinations to visit to see the awe-inspiring northern lights that can be seen from September through to mid-April. A new addition to Nappstraumen is the luxury style cabins that were built in 2020, now these cabins will take some beating. Offering everyone single rooms while staying in some of the most stunning cabins you will find. Again with this destinations location, it is possible to both fish the open ocean and fjords perfect for people who are not great on the open seas. The on-site guides will ensure that your whole week goes perfectly and are always happy to assist in any way you need them.

Saltstraumen, Bodo

Bodo needs no introduction to the sea fishing community. It’s an area that over the years has built itself a huge reputation for offering some of Norway’s best fishing for a great variety of fish species. Our resort sits right next to the biggest tidal stream in Norway and the fishing is off the scale just minutes from your door. These Aluminium boats are perfectly designed for their environment and are very stable. With lots of different accommodation on offer, we can suggest accommodation to suit the size of group travelling. If boat fishing isn’t your thing then we can simply offer you shore fishing as this area is famous for producing some outstanding shore fishing opportunities for huge Cod and Halibut.

As you can see we have pretty much every eventuality covered from self drive boat fishing holidays, fully guided weeks at most of our destinations, part guided weeks and also now we are building our shore fishing destinations. At all our Norway locations it is possible to hire all your equipment meaning not huge expense of buying it if its your first time. All that left to do is choose when you would like to travel, how many people looking at travelling then leave the rest up to us. We have over 15 years of sending people to Norway so know what it takes to make a trip of a lifetime

Tight lines,

Paul Stevens
