Built on the tradition of over 20 years of dove shooting experience, La Dormida is the newest and most exclusive dove shooters accommodation ever offered in Cordoba, which has already received acclaim from Argentina’s journals of design and decoration. La Dormida is run and organised by David Denies whose dove shooting and hunting lodges are famous for their unparalleled service. Building upon these traditions our staff at La Dormida has been specially trained in the art of caring for private parties.
Location
La Dormida is located in the province of Cordoba, in Central Argentina 80 miles (130km) north of the Córdoba City International Airport which is approximately 1 hour 35 minutes away. It is widely considered the dove shooting capital of the world, with 100 square mile radius (160 km) around the lodge is annually inhabited by over 50.000.000 million doves, and the birds reproduce over five times per year. For the uninitiated, this is quite possibly shooting heaven and whether you are a veteran or a relative novice you will be able to find sport to match. From the moment you arrive in Argentina, our service is personalised and attention is paid to every imaginable detail, from airport reception to uniformed bird boys in the field. The David Denies standard has no equal and makes a visit to Cordoba a shooting holiday without peer.
Shooting
Forget what you’ve heard about dove hunting in Mexico, or what you used to hear about the doves in Colombia. Simply put, the dove hunting available in our part of Córdoba is, on its worst day, amazing, and more typically is beyond comparison with any other dove hunting resource around the globe. Your host Joaquin Dartiguelongue has provided guests with the best hunting opportunities and gracious hospitality for the past 10 years so you will be comforted at the fact that you will be in good hands.
The program generally starts at 8:00 AM with a hearty breakfast and short drive to the shoot. In the field, you will be assigned a pick-up boy, who will provide you with shells and refreshments and direct you to your shooting stand. The birds fly in literally waves, darkening the skies and whether you wish to focus on sheer numbers or go for the most challenging shots the options are yours. The lodge maintains 55 shooting fields all within a short drive through the region’s rolling farmland. You will be visited frequently by our head guide who will be available to assist you with any need, even giving you some tips on your shooting if required. Depending on the time of the year you will shoot till noon when you will be treated to an incredible barbecue lunch, shaded by a comfortable safari tent, tasting some of Argentina’s wonderful beef and superb wines. The afternoon begins at around 2 or 2:30 PM and continues until almost dark. There is no quitting time, good sense and tired shooters dictate when the day is through.
This is a true all year round location and makes an excellent addition to any other activities you might have in mind during a trip to Argentina or Chile. The opportunity to hunt all year round is very much an advantage for the discerning Dove hunter. You can choose which season you wish to shoot in and experience the difference in the way they shoot the quarry from each quarter of the year. From deep valleys and wind to shoot to local farms and hills.
Additional Activities
There are optional trips to consider when in Argentina such as historical tours, sightseeing, shopping and horse riding for the more adventurous amongst you. For more subtle activities the lodge offers a massage room for the ultimate relaxation, an outdoor plunge pool and a fire pit for those lazy evenings catching up with stories told and a drink in your hand.
