Wildfowling Combo | Scandinavia

Overview

Tour code: SWE008

If you are passionate about your wildfowling shooting and yearn for the best experience possible then look no further, enjoy 3 days hunting with two afternoons of Duck flighting in the most impressive of estate grounds. Sweden is renowned for its outstanding amount of migratory and domestic birds and there are no bag limits! The species of Geese that will be around at the time will be Barnacle, Greylag and Canadas with an influx of migratory Canadas and Greylags migrating down from the north around December time when it’s too cold. Barnacle Geese will be flying through from Russia and will be in Sweden feeding so will also be part of the quarry each day. Along with Geese, you will be shooting afternoon Duck flights which will comprise of mainly Mallard a few Teal and an occasional different species. Not only will you have unlimited bird days but varied and exciting and lead by Swedens best guide Kristofer Hansson. With over 10 years experience and an incredible knowledge of the hunting areas, dedication and enthusiasm to his work it will be an educational get away as much as an enjoyable one.

Location
Your guides hunting areas are stretched over 5000 hectares Situated both along the coast and nearby, which includes areas near Bjärred in the south followed by hunting grounds close to the large Barsebäck 19th century renovated Dutch Renaissance style castle and estate. To the north just outside the city of Landskrona and with only a 40km drive from north to south its a short distance to both shooting premises.

Shooting
Over the next 3 days hunting you will have to arrive bright and early to the designated hunting ground 1 hour 15 minutes before sunrise to enable good time to prepare yourself before the birds start coming in to feed. Kristofer and his team will have already laid out your decoys for the hunt, organised your ammunition and semi-auto and organised your blind for the shoot. He will guide you through any safety aspects and what to expect of the day before you start. The hairs on the back of your neck will start to stand when you hear the honk of the Geese come in, the anticipation and adrenaline will have you wanting more. After your morning’s hunt, you will retreat back to the B&B or somewhere local for you to have some lunch before returning back for your afternoon’s duck flights. You will expect to shoot 1-2 drives in the afternoon over the ponds of the estates where the Ducks will fly in from the ocean to feed. If the birds are in plenty there will be the opportunity to nestle in a hide where you will wait for the 6.00pm dusk flight. This is a challenging yet fun combination of wildfowling and will test your skills and hiding capabilities.

Additional Activities
For the non-hunter, there is a variety of extra activities to fill your time with. Shopping, restaurants and boutiques in Centre Syd, Löddeköpinge, hiking trails, kite surfing, golf and walking around the nature reserves to name but a few.

Questions & Answers

Make an enquiry Contact Us

Where is the B&B?

Sundblick is a fresh, beautiful Bed and Breakfast situated in the most peaceful of areas with breath-taking views over the sumptuous green fields and coastline of Öresund allowing for the most stunning sunsets. Only 50 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from the central amenities and a mere 15 minutes away from both the Northern and Southern shooting areas it is the most convenient of accommodations.

Where do they shoot?

You will be shooting over approximately 5000 hectares of ground spanning over the North and South of the designated areas. You will be located either on the coastline or very close by which is perfect for the incoming wildfowl as they’re drawn in to feed. Starting in the South near a village called Bjärred and in the North just outside the city of Landskrona, you will also be shooting in the grounds of Barsebäck. It is 40km from North to South and it’s a very well connected route so it will take you no time at all to make your way between hunts.

How long does it take to reach the shooting ground?

It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach both the Northern and the Southern hunting areas from Sundblick B&B.

What quarry will I shoot?

You will be shooting a mixed bag of Canadas, Greylags and Barnacle Geese, Mallard, and Teal ducks.

What will the bag be?

You will find that in Sweden the amount of birds are unlimited but keep in mind that all birds are wild so numbers may vary.

How does the day work?

You will be shooting over Geese over three days and Duck in the afternoons of the first two days. You will have to arrive at the designated hunt area 1 hour and 15 minutes before sunrise where you will meet your guide Kristofer. He and his team will have arranged all your decoys for you, have your gun and will then inform you on safety, how the layout blinds work and guide you through what to expect during your days hunt. Cartridges will be situated in your blind so that you have enough to see you through the morning shoot. As the birds start flighting in and being shot, Kristofer and his team will pick up the geese immediately as not to scare new flocks. They will be approximately 200 metres away.

At approximately 11:00 am the days flight will come to an end and the birds will be gathered for you to show respect for by means of a small parade where you will be able to take pictures accordingly. Kristofer and his team will take care of the game and decoys and all the equipment. If you wish you can then return to the B&B for a meal prepared by the owner at special request or you have the opportunity to venture into the surrounding areas for a bite to eat before returning for an afternoon duck flight of 1-2 drives from approximately 2:00pm. Getting a dusk flight may be a possibility if the numbers are high.

Who is best suited to this destination?

This type of shooting in Sweden involves being quite physical, you may well be expected to lay down in your blind in order to make for the best form of camouflage and will involve you springing up to take your shot. You will have to be fairly fit and able to withstand the cold weather that you may be faced with for long periods of time.

What skill level is required?

An intermediate competency level is needed for this trip and type of shooting. You will have to understand how to load and operate a Semi-Automatic shotgun should you choose not to take your own. A decent understanding of identifying your quarry and an ability to sustain long hours sat/laying in a blind in all weathers.

How physically demanding is this trip?

This is not one for the faint-hearted, as you will be required to walk across muddy fields or snow covered areas. You will require a standard amount of fitness to engage in the days hunt and the ability to endure the cold conditions in the later winter months shooting from your blind.
