Partridge Shooting in Portugal at the Vale do Manantio estate offers it’s guest a truly unique and exclusive shooting holiday. Located in the South of Portugal in the Alentejo region lies the prestigious Herdade Vale do Manantio estate. We have complied a list of the most commonly asked questions alongside our answers.

 

Where is the lodge?

Herdade Vale do Manantio lodge is situated in the South of Portugal by the Alqueva dam overlooking the heart of Alentejo. The beautiful estate is 2 hours from the airport.

 

Where do they shoot?

The estate is called the Herdade Vale do Manantio where you will be staying and shooting. The estate consists of 2,000 acres of hilly terrain and valleys which comprise of a scattering of shrublands, holmoak and cork trees.

 

How long does it take to reach the shooting estate?

As you are situated in the hunting grounds themselves it only takes a small journey time of around 10-15 minutes by jeep to access the furthest of drives.

 

What quarry will I be shooting?

You will be shooting red-legged Partridge at the Vale do Manantio estate.

 

What will the bag be?

The number of birds that are to be shot is 400 per day per team of 8 guns (50 per person per day). Opportunity to shoot more will be at a priced at 29 euros per bird over your 100 bird quota for the two days.

 

How does the day work?

You will all meet for a sit down breakfast at 8:00am before you’ll be collected by your loaders/Secretarios to be taken to the first drive for 9:15am . A selection of 5 drives will be chosen for you during the day. After the first 3 drives you will stop at approximately 12:30pm for some tapas and a selection of drinks.

You will carry on to shoot a further two drives before you settle for a final lunch at 3:15pm  in the field.

Once finished you will head back to the lodge to unwind and enjoy the many activities on offer at the lodge.

 

Do the guides speak English?

Yes, all the guides and lodge staff speak very good English.

 

Who is best suited to this destination?

This would be a great place for both the intermediate and more experienced of game shooters as there is something for everyone.

 

What skill level is required?

A competency level of around the intermediate level would be advantageous due to the opportunity of shooting the higher of presented birds.

 

 How physically demanding is this trip?

This is a very laid back affair and physical exertion is minimal as you will be picked up from the lodge by 4×4’s. Walking to your peg with your guns and ammunition will be the responsibility of your Secretarios and loaders.

Fly from the UK direct to Portugal with a transfer of 1 hour 30 minutes to the beautiful estate of Herdade Vale do Manantio.

 

What is the Accommodation like?

Vale do Manantio is a stunning traditional lodge set in its own large estate of 2000 acres and includes spacious living and comfortable bedrooms with an infinity pool and jacuzzi.

 

What is the food like?

The food is mostly regional, with fresh meat, fish, salads and bread with local wines and cheeses.

 

Does the lodge provide hunting/shooting equipment?

The lodge provides guns and ammunition.

 

Is there Internet and phone signal available?

Vale do Manantio provides you with free WiFi and phone signal is good.

 

Are there other activities available?

There’s a multitude of extra activities at the Vale do Manantio such as Horse riding, massages, spa treatments, clay pigeon shooting and swimming.
