Xingu Lodge Fishing Report – 25th September To 2nd October 2021

All of the anglers who were fishing the Xingu river last week were all treated to a surprise of stable and clear water conditions, making for an excellent week.

Xingu Lodge – 25/09/2021 to 02/10/2021

Weather: We had some rain during the week, but most days were sunny.

Temperature: 31-34 C (day) 20-22 C (night).

Water Temperature: 29 C

River Conditions: The water level of the Xingu river was stable and still clear.

Fishing Conditions: This week, we had a primary focus on vampire fish. We saw some fantastic days filled with a lot of action, and other days, the fishing was a little bit slower. Either way, we managed to land a good amount of fish with a patient approach and hard work. These incredible predators were mostly found in the deeper pools, holding in current where only our Scientific Anglers Big Water Max 500 grain sinking lines would reach them. We threw flashy synthetic Clouser Minnows or big tube flies (always with a trailer hook) and found a lot of success

Fishing Stats:

Number of Anglers: 6

Total number of fish landed over this week: 157 (Payara, Peacock Bass, Bicuda, Matrinxã, Corvina, Wolfish)

Total Payara Landed: 45

Total Payara Missed: 55

Biggest payara landed in this week: 93 cm

Payara: 45

Peacock Bass: 88

Matrinxã: 3

Bicuda: 12

Corvina: 2

Pacu: 5

Wolfish: 2

Highlight of the Week: Our guest Diane is getting famous on the Amazon catching the biggest fish at every destination she goes fishing, and Xingu is not an exception. Fishing a clear Clouser Minnow, she got a huge Payara that gave her an incredible fight, which also happened to be the biggest fish of the week. Congrats Diane!!! We are very happy for you.
