Where is the hotel?

The hotel is based in the Puntarenas Providence, Playa Zancuda in Costa Rica. Set amongst some stunning Costa Rican Jungle.

Where will I fish?

If you chose to offshore fish then the fishing will be out in the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The inshore fishing takes you along some of the most remote and beautiful deserted beaches in Costa Rica.

How long does it take to reach the fishing grounds?

On your offshore fishing days the grounds are around 30 – 40 minutes away from the hotel. The inshore is split between zones and depending on what zone you will be fishing that day it can range anything from 5 minutes to 45minutes away from the hotel.

What fish will I catch?

Depending on your targets and if you have certain fish you wish to target then you can expect to catch; Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Tuna, Amberjacks, Roosters, Sharks, and lots of reef groupers and Cubera Snappers.

How many fish will I catch?

If you are fishing offshore then the numbers of fish are lower as the fish you will be targeting are spread around. So if targeting the Marlin and Sailfish you should expect to raise a couple each day. When fishing Tuna you should be looking at multiple strikes. The inshore fishing is different as the fish are more concentrated in areas that are accessible by boat. Inshore fishing is a lot more productive as you can spin, fly or baitfish.

How will I fish?

A normal day fishing offshore will be either spent trolling artificial lures or you can popper/baitfish. Depending on what you are fishing for your skipper will suggest the best methods. The inshore fishing is a lot more active as there are a lot more species willing to take your bait or lure.

Fly fishing is also a great method and again our skippers will be on hand to help you with everything.

What skill level is required?

A general knowledge of fishing from a boat is an advantage but not necessary. The guides are there to help you achieve what you want out of your holiday.

How physically demanding is this trip?

On the whole, the trip is not that physical apart from playing the fish. The boats are easy to walk around and have comfortable seats for moving around from spot to spot. There is a little step down into the boats at the marina.

When is the best time to go?

The season is November to July with the peak times being from November to March.
