The Goose is a bird of several waterfowl species in the Anatidae family, of which there are two living genera of true Geese: The Anser, grey Geese and white Geese, such as the Greylag Goose and Snow Goose and Branta, black Geese, such as the Canada Goose. Among the travelling hunter, one of the most popular species is the Greylag Goose.
As the name suggests, the Greylag is grey in colour with white plumage, pink legs and an orange beak. It’s a relatively large bird, measuring on average between 75cm to 90cm, with a wingspan of 147cm to 180cm and a weight of around 3.3 kilograms. Depending on the tailwind and its enormous wingspan, it can reach an incredible top speed of nearly 70 miles per hour and provides an excellent challenge for the travelling hunter.
