If you love freshwater fishing and want to take a trip overseas, we offer an array of first-class holiday destinations worldwide, fishing for some of the world’s largest fish species. Our famous hosted trips provide an easy, uncomplicated way to travel and allow single anglers and pairs of friends the opportunity to fish and experience a holiday of a lifetime with other like-minded individuals. Throughout the years, our solo traveller-hosted trips have been responsible for creating life-lasting friendships, and from when they started, we have groups who are still travelling together and who met on one of our trips.
As the name suggests, anglers who travel with us on our hosted trips benefit from a Sportquest host, who will be on hand throughout your holiday. Our hosts are all experienced anglers and will help with the fish and fishing, ensuring you get the most out of your trip. All are also well travelled and will ensure navigating all the airports and transfers is smooth and easy.
So if you’re a solo traveller or a pair of friends and have always fancied fishing for the giant White Sturgeon on the Fraser River in Canada, or the colossal Catfish on the River Ebro in Spain, or perhaps the myriad of species on offer in Thailand, our fully guided trips will be perfect for you.
Our hosted Sturgeon fishing tour to British Columbia in Canada, is the ideal trip for single anglers, pairs of friends and even small groups, looking to battle with one of the largest, most powerful freshwater fish on the planet - the mighty White Sturgeon. These prehistoric river dinosaurs can grow to over 10ft in length and half a tonne in weight.
Joining one of our hosted freshwater fishing trips offers many benefits. Before, during and after your trip, you’ll have one point of contact, who’ll be on hand to answer any questions, whether about travel information, climate and weather at the lodge or the best methods for fishing. They’ll also be on hand to navigate the airports and transfers, explain and show you everything you need to know about the fishing and, of course, on hand to land those PBs and to take those all-important trophy shots for you to share with your friends and family when you return home.
Our hosted freshwater fishing holidays are designed to help those anglers who travel alone or those in small groups who cannot fill the minimum number of places at some destinations without paying for supplements. Many fishing lodges worldwide base their itineraries on either two or four guests, so if you are a single angler, a pair of anglers or a party of three, there can often be supplements to pay. This is because, despite having fewer people, you still have to pay for the same package.
By joining one of our guided fishing holidays, you eliminate all of this worry and extra expense. We put all the trips together, ensuring all the spaces get filled and that no one gets hit with single angler supplements or paying for empty rooms in your lodge or spaces on your boat.
Our passionate and knowledgeable guides and hosts are famous for going the extra mile. They’ve helped land numerous PBs and anglers tick multiple species off their bucket lists and are always on hand to ensure your hosted freshwater fishing trip is the best.
The simple answer is yes. Our hosted freshwater fishing holidays are a great way of meeting like-minded anglers, and in the past, travelling rods have formed lifelong friendships. Traditionally we arrange for you to meet up with your guide or host and other group members at the departure airport, which is always a good way of breaking the ice and an excellent way to start your journey.
Again, the simple answer is yes. We can fill any of our hosted freshwater fishing trips with one, two or three anglers, and it’s even possible for a larger group of friends to join one. We can often tailor any trips to accommodate the needs of our customers, whatever they might be. It’s sometimes even possible to increase the size of a group trip to accommodate more travelling rods or non-anglers if needed. We have one sole aim: to ensure you have the very best fishing experience possible.
We have anglers travelling on our hosted freshwater fly fishing holidays from around the globe, so that’s no problem. As we mentioned, many lifelong friendships have formed on our trips, and many anglers travel together year after year, which is a testament to just how popular they are and how well they work. Once again, when booking, please inquire with a team member about alternative departure airports, as we can book flights from anywhere in the world.
As many anglers on our hosted freshwater fishing holidays travel from all around the country, even the world, we know that many would prefer to travel from an airport local to them. That is something we can offer, providing the flights are available. Extra costs might be involved, but our representatives will always explore all avenues for you.
Adding extra days to the end of your holiday is possible, and it’s a popular add-on for many travelling rods and non-anglers alike. With many of our freshwater fishing destinations in places like Canada, Thailand and Spain, there’s a host of extra activities to enjoy. Sometimes, having a couple of additional days to relax, take in the sights or explore the local area is nice. If you speak to one of our representatives and explain what you’d like to do, they can tailor the itinerary to suit your wishes.
On most of our guided freshwater fishing trips, anglers usually have to share a room; however, it is possible at most lodges and destinations to upgrade to have a single room. If you let one of the Sportquest team know when you book your holiday, they will let you know if a single room is available and if there are any supplements to pay for.
