This Sportquest Holidays exclusive hosted week has been carefully designed for single anglers looking to experience an exciting fly fishing adventure targeting the beautiful Arctic Char. Unlike many overseas fishing holidays, where you may need to travel with a friend or organise a group of anglers to make a trip viable and cost-effective, this special departure allows solo anglers to join a group of like-minded customers and travel with a dedicated Sportquest host.
The package price is based on sharing a twin room with another angler from the group, helping keep costs lower than arranging a private trip independently. For those who prefer their own room, single-occupancy accommodation may be available at an additional cost, subject to availability.
Set amongst dramatic Arctic scenery, Two River Valley offers the complete Greenland experience, combining world-class fly fishing for sea-run Arctic Char across two pristine rivers with the chance to immerse yourself in one of the wildest and most untouched landscapes on earth. From fast runs and pocket water to calm pools perfect for dry-fly fishing, the two rivers offer a fantastic variety for both experienced anglers and newcomers alike.
At the heart of the trip is a brand-new lodge, completed in 2025 and perfectly positioned on a hill overlooking a private bay at the river mouth. With productive pools just a short walk away and easy boat access for river and sea excursions, it offers comfort, convenience and spectacular views in a true wilderness setting. After each day on the water, relax with hearty meals, a drink from the bar and, in late summer, the memorable chance to watch the northern lights dance across the Arctic sky.
This hosted holiday is also available as a standard trip, based on two anglers sharing the fishing and accommodation. Visit the tour page here: Two River Valley Greenland.

Greenland is a land of dramatic extremes, wild, remote, and breathtakingly beautiful. Here, life is shaped by the natural world, offering a rare escape from the pace and pressures of everyday life. For anglers seeking genuine adventure, quiet wilderness, and outstanding fishing, the untouched surroundings of the Two River Valley offer something truly special.
Although Greenland is vast, it remains the least densely populated country on Earth, with its capital, Nuuk, home to only around 20,000 residents. Beyond the city, much of the country remains raw and uninhabited, defined by towering mountains, ancient glaciers, rugged landscapes, deep fjords, and clear rivers. Despite the almost ironic name, this is a place where water dominates the landscape, and for travelling anglers, those rivers and fjords create an extraordinary playground.
The headline species is the Arctic Char, with both sea-run and resident fish thriving in the clean coastal river systems. Known for their aggressive takes, strong runs, and striking colours, these fish commonly weigh between 3lb and 6lb, with larger specimens exceeding 10lb. In the clear water, their vivid shades of orange and crimson make every encounter memorable, while their fast-paced fights deliver superb sport. Alongside the freshwater fishing, the surrounding fjords and coastal waters also offer exciting sea fishing opportunities, adding even more variety to this remarkable destination.

This exclusive Sportquest Holidays trip is hosted by one of our experienced hosts and is ideal for solo anglers, pairs of friends and even small groups. Our team of hosts are highly experienced as both hosts and fishing guides. They are well-travelled, taking customers on trips around the world and fishing in a wide array of environments, from the saltwater flats of Christmas Island and the windswept Sea Trout rivers of Patagonia to the jungle waterways of South America. All have been fishing their entire lives, and most have been hosting trips for us for over ten years, guiding hundreds of customers during that time and helping many land new PBs and tick items off their bucket lists. As well as being on hand to help with the fishing, they will be with you throughout the trip, helping you navigate the airports and transfers.
Alongside our host, you’ll also be supported by two experienced on-site guides throughout your stay. They’ll be available to help with tactics, fly selection, transport, and daily logistics, ensuring everything runs smoothly while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.
The fishing at Two River Valley offers plenty of freedom and independence, but help is always nearby when needed. In such a remote location, safety is a priority, and the guides carry radios at all times to stay in regular contact with the lodge, giving you peace of mind while you enjoy this remarkable wilderness experience.
Both rivers within the Two River Valley programme offer outstanding fly-fishing, with a superb mix of water to suit anglers of all abilities. From fast runs and pocket water to classic holding pools and technical lies, the variety is exceptional. The river closest to the lodge is especially diverse, with a small lake separating the upper and lower sections — a typical feature of Greenlandic rivers that begin in glacial lakes high in the mountains. From the river mouth to a natural waterfall barrier, around 5–6 kilometres of productive water provide a perfectly defined system packed with opportunity.
In the upper reaches, anglers can target Char in deep, clear pools where fish are often visible before a cast is made. The lake section adds something different, with the chance to stalk cruising fish and boat access available to explore both banks. Below the lake, the river slows and widens, creating excellent dry-fly water, ideal for skating surface patterns, while deeper pools and faster runs are perfect for swinging or stripping streamers. This river alone could easily provide a full week of fishing.
A second river, reached by a short boat journey, adds even more variety. From the mouth upwards, it offers a wealth of pools, runs, and pocket water, perfectly suited to surface fishing, streamer work, and sight-casting.
What makes Two River Valley so special is the freedom it offers. Anglers can enjoy easy-access fishing close to the lodge or head further afield in search of quieter, untouched water. With productive spots nearby and plenty more to explore, the programme delivers both comfort and true wilderness adventure.

The Arctic Char is the species that truly defines this destination. Large numbers gather in the saltwater estuaries before pushing into the rivers, creating superb opportunities for travelling anglers. Known for their strength, aggression, and determination, these fish produce explosive takes and exciting fights that stay with you long after the trip is over.
Tackle & Techniques
The fishing here is wonderfully versatile, and tackle can be adapted to suit the conditions. Early in the season, when water levels are higher, larger intruder-style flies and streamers fished on light Skagit or sink-tip setups can be very effective for fresh, chrome-bright Char. Both switch rods and single-handed rods work well, with the choice largely coming down to personal preference.
A wide variety of flies can produce fish, including streamers, nymphs, rubber-leg patterns, and traditional salmon-style flies. However, one of the most exciting aspects of this fishery is the surface fishing. Skating foam flies or gurglers across the water and watching a bow wave build behind the fly before an aggressive take is one of the most memorable ways to experience Arctic Char fishing.
Access & Boats
Boats are an important part of the operation and help anglers make the most of the water available. On the home river, a small boat is used to cross the lake section, allowing easier access to the upper reaches. A larger boat is used for transfers to the second river and for sea fishing excursions, while smaller dinghies help guests reach shore quickly and efficiently. Together, they provide smooth access to this varied and exciting fishery.

The Vatnsdalsá River is one of the most famous Salmon rivers in Iceland and is renowned for the size of fish it produces. Located in the country's North West, approximately three hours drive from Reykjavik, it flows for over forty kilometres and offers a vast array of quality pools and beats. It produces between 700 and 1,200 Salmon each season, with a healthy average size.

This is the perfect fishing trip for a novice or experienced angler looking for a short fully guided holiday with the chance of catching an exceptionally large Trout.
