Sweden is a Nordic country located on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe, bordering Norway to the west and north and Finland to the east. At 450,295 square kilometres, it’s the largest Nordic country by both area and population and is the fifth-largest country in Europe. It’s famous for its pop music, innovative flat-pack furniture, and unique traditions like Fika (a coffee break); it’s also a country of stunning natural beauty.
The country is traditionally divided into three regions: in the north is a vast mountain and forest region, the central portion of the country is an expanse of lowland, and the south is made up of the Småland highlands. Much of the country, over 65 per cent, is heavily forested and covered in woodland, while over 39,960 km² is covered in water, comprising nearly one hundred thousand lakes and a vast array of river systems. It’s these waterways that attract travelling anglers from around the globe.
While many anglers visit Sweden to sample the sea fishing opportunities on offer or lure fishing for Pike, its real draw is for travelling fly rods, attracted by chance to experience a real wilderness adventure, wetting a fly for wild Brown Trout, Arctic Char and Grayling, to mention just a few.
Our Wilderness Heli Fishing expedition offers travelling rods the chance to experience world-class fly fishing above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden. This fully guided trip utilises four different helipads, flying anglers out to some of the most beautiful and remote spots in the country, wetting a fly for a for Brown Trout, Arctic Char, Grayling and Pike.
