On arrival in Córdoba, you’ll be met by a representative from Hayes & Hayes, who will assist you through customs. If you’ve brought your own firearm, it will need to be inspected by the Argentine Army at the airport.
Once cleared, the team will transfer you to the lodge, where a warm welcome and refreshing cocktails await. The journey to the lodge takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

On your first two days of Dove shooting and throughout your holiday, you will start your day with a 7:00am wake-up call and a hearty breakfast before departing for the fields at 8:00am. Wake-up calls and departure times may vary depending on the time of year and the location where you will be hunting that day.
Most drives to the Dove fields are 15-50 minutes away from the lodge. Once you arrive at the selected hunting area, you will be assigned your very own professional and experienced bird boy. He will provide you with cartridges, refreshments, and loading assistance and retrieve your fallen birds.

On each day of your holiday, depending on the time of year, you will shoot until noon, then gather with the whole team of guns for the traditional Argentine “Asado” (barbecue).
After lunch, your afternoon will resume at approximately 2:30pm and continue until around 6:00 pm. At the end of each day, you will retreat to the lodge for some drinks and fine cuisine.

"My Father and I stayed at Guayascate Lodge for 5 days of shooting in June which is during the Argentinian winter; typically cool mornings of about 4 or 5 degrees with nice, sunny 19 degrees in the afternoon.
Transportation - we were met at the airport promptly and driven to the lodge from Cordoba airport. Mini bus or pick up trucks were used to transport us to and from the shooting hides each day; the vehicles were clean, well maintained and smoothly driven.
Accommodation - we had a room each, lovely Egyptian cotton bedding, great showers and bath as well as plenty of space to relax. Each morning we had a wake up call with the option of coffee. The laundry service was a half-day turn around the the quality of this was exceptional.
Food and drink - I cannot begin to describe the food and drink at Guayascate, it was simply outstanding. All meal portions were plentiful, very varied and the steaks were cooked Argentinian style as you'd expect - delicious ! We had a beer in the afternoon when finishing the day's shooting then wine with evening meal and finished off the evening with a cocktail or a whisky. Some of our meals were taken in the wine cellar too, very nice!
Shooting - each shooter is given the choice of a 20 guage Berretta 'over & under' or a Benelli semi-auto. The "bird boys" were excellent, very friendly, spoke great English and were extremely experienced with plenty of great tips with which to achieve a good balance of shells to birds. Each day meant a new hide on the estate and thousands upon thousands of doves to shoot at. At the hide there is a plentiful selection of refreshment too.
In general - this is an outstanding experience, we could not fault any part of this and would highly recommend a shooting break at Guayascate Lodge. If I could single out one element that made the trip worthwhile and that is the staff at the lodge and shooting blinds; everyone was extremely helpful and friendly and go the extra mile to ensure that you make great memories."

Located in the heart of Argentina, Cordoba is a fertile and productive agricultural area nestled in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas. Well known as one of South America’s breadbaskets, its sprawling farms and established irrigation provides the Doves with the ideal habitat. Abundant with food and water and with a lack of natural predators, the habitat is so well-suited for the birds that they don’t migrate and have reached robust population numbers. The species is so prolific in the region that there are days when you can expect to shoot 500 rounds in the morning followed by 500 in the afternoon.
The Lodge is surrounded by over 20,000 acres of land, populated by thousands upon thousands of native Piquillin trees, where the birds roost, meaning the best shooting area’s take only a matter of minutes to access. The Eared Dove is a stout-bodied bird with a short neck and short slender bill, weighing around 4oz and measuring typically between 8 and 9 inches; they’re renowned for their long wedge-like tails and olive/brown plumage and tiny black spots on their wings. They feature a grey crown, black lines behind the eyes and ear-coverts; it’s these black markings that give the bird its ‘eared’ name.
There is no doubt that the birds are one of the most popular amongst seasoned Wing Shooters worldwide. They provide an excellent quarry for the keen shooter, as they provide the ultimate ‘big bag’ shooting experience, and it’s not uncommon for a single gun to shoot over a thousand birds in one day. This, combined with the fact they are strong fliers, reaching speeds of over fifty miles per hour and using sharp flicks of their wings to propel themselves through the air, provide a tremendous challenge for travelling guns as their flight is often high, fast and direct.
A keen and well-seasoned wing shooter would appreciate this programme due to the opportunities for a wide range of challenging birds and could take great satisfaction in picking the most challenging targets. However, at the same time, it’s an ideal experience for the beginner and intermediate gun to try their hand at plentiful well-presented birds, with plenty of opportunities to improve their skill level.
The daily hunting program at Guayascate Lodge, Argentina, generally starts at around 7.00am, with a hearty breakfast before a short drive to the shoot. Once in the field, you will be assigned with your own experienced professional bird boy, who will provide shells, act as a loader, retrieve fallen birds and keep drinks cool and at the ready. Once you get set up and ready to go, it can be fast and furious; however, the bird boy will be on hand to assist you.
Depending on the time of year, you will shoot until noon, when you’ll get treated to a tremendous Asado-style lunch, complemented with salads, gourmet desserts and fantastic wines. After lunch, many travelling guns like to enjoy a nap in one of the hammocks, mellowing out and resting before the afternoon session gets underway. The afternoon hunting sessions re-commences at around 2.00am or 2:30am, and you will continue to shoot the influx of doves until almost dark.
