Torsvåg Havfiske Lodge

Welcome to Torsvag Fishing Holiday, this stunning location in Norway offers sea anglers the best of both worlds. First, its location is minutes away from the fish-filled open ocean, where you will find some excellent banks that rise from the sea bed offering the perfect grounds to target Halibut. Second, this part of Norway is known worldwide for being the ‘Halibut Capital’, and it’s for a good reason as in the summer months, Halibut approaching maximum sizes are caught just off the coast.

The other advantage of your Torsvag Fishing Holiday is the many fjords that offer sheltered fishing and are home to some genuinely giant Cod and hard fighting Coalfish. Once you team the outstanding fishing with some excellent boats, you will soon find yourself in an anglers paradise, known as Torsvåg.

Torsvåg is a short 1-hour drive from Tromsø meaning no long transfers, once you have landed it takes no time at all to arrive at your lodge. Located on the idyllic and very scenic Island of Vannøy with almost no light pollution there are some great spots to look out for the Northern Lights at certain times of the year.

Why Should You choose Torsvåg?

Torsvåg has for many years been home to many delightful and successful fishing holidays. Anglers from across Europe and sometimes even further have visited this stunning part of Norway, all searching for their dream catch. Torsvag Fishing Holiday isn’t just known for its Halibut fishing; each year, they get an excellent run of the Skrei Cod, which reach sizes of nearly 100lb. Then you have the sheltered fjord fishing for Coalfish, Plaice and other smaller species.

If the above wasn’t enough, why not choose between all the different accommodation options, from fully furnished eight-person cabins to the more popular four-person standard cabins. All accommodation can be found a very short walk away from the jetty that houses 20 stylish and roomy Arvor self-drive boats, perfect for most water conditions and great for groups of up to 4 people.

What fish will I catch?

The north sea is home to some fantastic sport and will keep the keenest anglers busy. When you hear people talking about their fishing experiences in Norway, it’s generally met with big smiles and fish that get bigger every time they are spoken of. Let us tell you that most of the stories you have heard are true, and this is your turn to add to these stories with an action-packed Torsvag Fishing Holiday.

The main species on offer at Torsvåg will be the Halibut and Cod. Both species have a massive following, and people flock to this part of Norway each year. Torsvåg was the home to the world record Halibut at one point a colossal specimen of 194KG or just over 420lb. Early season Cod fishing is out of this world and tends to be at its peak between March and April, and catches of fish approaching 100lb is not uncommon.

Summer months offer the super hard fighting Coalfish in huge shoals; these are found either inside the fjord or out in the open ocean on steep plateaus that hold baitfish. Once you start exploring the fjords, you will find some great little sheltered bays home to some fantastic Plaice fishing mixed in with some plate-sized Dabs.

Self Drive Fishing Boats

On your Torsvag Fishing Holiday, there are 20 Arvor boats all kitted out with 100 HP Turbo Diesel Volkswagen motors and are perfect for groups of 4 people. The boats come jam-packed with features that will leave you not wanting for more. Here are some of the features of the boat;

Torsvåg, located on the outer side of Vannøy Islands, offers you the best of both worlds, with open ocean fishing minutes away or why not stay local and fish the fjords that provide some excellent sheltered fishing. The Arvor boats you will be fishing from are very comfortable fishing platforms and the added benefit of being able to get out of the elements is a great bonus.

Peter

We've been lucky enough to fish in Norway a few times but had never visited Torsvag. It was a thoroughly enjoyable week with plenty of fish. On most days we fished for Cod but did switch it up to target the Halibut too, we lost count of the number of Cod we caught, but we landed 6 Halibut to around 60lb. Overall we were very happy and would visit again.

Jordan

This was our first time in Norway and certainly won't be our last - our week was excellent. It took us a while to find the fish, but once we did we caught a good mixture of Cod, Coalfish and even a Halibut. Finding your own marks and catching fish from them was very rewarding.

Clive

We managed to get out and fish every day, and landed plenty of fish including many different species. The highlight of the week was without doubt Carls 60lb Halibut - despite not being a true giant by Norway's standards it was impressive to witness such a creature.
