Few saltwater destinations offer the same blend of variety and challenge as Oman. This fishery has been pioneered by Arabian Fly Sport Fishing, who spent years unlocking its coastline to create a world-class operation. Here, anglers can pursue the Indo-Pacific Permit, one of fly fishing’s ultimate prizes, along with Milkfish, Queenfish, Bream, Bluefish, Trevally, Pompano, Tuna, and Dorado. These are wild, diverse waters where every session brings a new test.
The fishing is as varied as the coast itself. Mornings may mean stalking tailing Permit under sheer cliffs or sight fishing in secluded bays. Afternoons can see bait balls erupt offshore, with Dorado and Tuna ripping through the surface. For those who like endurance, long walks along vast beaches and sudden sprints after tailing fish deliver technical, physical encounters that few destinations can match.
Guides here bring decades of global saltwater fly experience. They specialise in putting anglers in front of Permit at the right time and tide, while leading conservation efforts including a dedicated Permit tagging programme in partnership with Bonefish & Tarpon Trust.
After hard fishing, guests unwind in style at the Juweira Boutique Hotel on Salalah’s marina promenade. Overlooking the Arabian Sea with the Jebel Samhan mountains behind, it offers spacious rooms, two pools, a wellness centre, and several restaurants and bars. White sandy beaches lie just steps away, creating a luxury base with comfort to match the fishing.
For anglers chasing world-class Permit in wild surroundings, with expert guiding and luxury at day’s end, Oman delivers a saltwater holiday of rare distinction.

"A huge thank you to everyone involved in planning my trip, I had the most delightful week. The fishing was exceptional and the Permit were very obliging, I landed both the Indo-Pacific and African-us species. The hotel was absolutely stunning also and the staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel most welcome. "
"The fishing guides were exceptional and really knew the waters and fishing grounds. I landed some stunning Permit and an abundance of Queenfish, which fight incredibly hard and often came completely clear of the water. The boutique hotel was first class and the rooms and food were amazing. "
"From the moment I left my front door to the moment I returned home my week was simply perfect. The fishing gods must have been looking over me too, as the bite was red hot all week. When I booked I was told how lovely the Juweira Boutique Hotel was and I certainly wasn't disappointed, it was luxurious."
"Sportquest staff excellent."
"Great fishing destination. Superb accommodation, 100 yards from the dock, exceptional guiding by Arabian Fly, and wonderful fishing: inshore for permit and offshore for queenfish, mahi mahi and tuna, plus many other species. A good mix of fly and lure fishing. We will be back."
"This was our second trip to Oman. This time we flew to Salalah via Muscat on Oman Air rather than via Doha on Qatar Air. The former had better flight times and connections and was very punctual but the on-board food was poor compared to Qatar Air. Still the better option though.
The fishing arrangements with Arabian Fly and their guiding were excellent: knowledgable, friendly and helpful. The sea conditions were less good than last year and the fishing correspondingly tougher. Permit were less evident but we had some excellent Mahi Mahi (20 one morning) and Queenfish (up to 25 pounds) fishing.
The accommodation and food at the Jumeira Boutique Hotel were superb, the best we’ve had on any overseas fishing holiday.
Strongly recommended.

The coastline in Oman is a true fisherman’s paradise, with it being one of the most rugged and diverse places you are likely to find. From long sandy beaches to the sheer cliff faces, it truly is a dream location to fish.
Since Arabian Fly set up business there, they have been looking at protecting the important fishery. The first project they got involved in was the tagging of Permit. With a bit of help from The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (BTT), their main goal was to gather as much data on the Indo-Pacific Permit Fishing Oman as possible, which will help protect their population in Oman and their habitats.
“We hope, in time, that this program will bring many exciting changes to an already beautiful region in Oman and help to protect the unique fishing grounds, beaches and above all the outstandingly special Indo Pacific permit population that we are so lucky to be able to enjoy here”
As previously mentioned, the diversity of Permit Fishing Oman is what attracts lots of anglers each year, from inshore and offshore boat fishing to spectacular and remote beach fishing. When you head out for your day’s boat fishing, there are no long journeys as the main drop-offs are a few minutes from the dock; this allows you to maximise your fishing time.
Each day you will get the opportunity to fish the morning for large shoals of tailing Permit and many other species whilst drifting along the vast cliff faces or exploring the shallow beaches and secluded bays. Then if you wish, you can switch it up and spend the afternoon fishing for sizeable busting bait balls of Tuna and Dorado, which are great fun on light tackle.
If you decide to fish the many long sandy beaches and secluded bays, you will need to be aware that it’s not for the faint-hearted as it requires long hikes and then when you find the fish, you may find that running up and down the beaches chasing tailing fish is the order for the day.
Offshore fishing days are a great alternative and with them only being a few minutes from the dock, it’s a great way to spend days fishing. You can choose to either fly fish or use conventional tackle while fishing offshore. (tackle not included)

There are two boats available at Arabian Fly Fishing, the fantastic 30ft offshore boat, equipped with all the latest electronics. Twin 200 four-stroke Yamaha engines, Furuno electronics and radar, will see you to the fishing marks quickly and in comfort.
The inshore fishing boat ‘Arabian fly’ is a custom-built fly fishing machine. It has a 24ft hull, twin four-stroke engines, front and rear raised casting decks, lean posts and under deck fly rod racks.
The guiding and owner team, Clare and Brandon King, are some of the best in the area at putting people in front of the elusive Indo-Pacific Permit. Brandon has been fishing for as long as he can remember and started guiding back in 2007 in Mozambique, fishing both blue water and the coastal mangrove system. He has travelled and fished worldwide from Cuba, Seychelles, Sudan, Australia, Zambia, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, Scotland, England, UAE, Oman, Slovenia, Mexico and South Africa. So you will be in very safe hands.
Clare King started life in Marketing and spent the start of her working life in London. Still, fishing has always been her passion and has seen her travel the globe and fish places such as Florida, Alaska, Cuba, Russia, Seychelles, Australia, Scotland, England, UAE, Oman, Slovenia and Mexico. She now devotes her time to guiding and the management and marketing of Arabian Fly and working on ways to promote conservation within Oman, focusing on our newly launched Permit tagging project.
