On your first two fishing days and throughout your fishing week, you will be wetting a line for some of Thailand’s and the world’s most exotic fish. The lake is 12 acres in size and is home to 52 different species, with 6 of these exceeding the 100lb mark. These include Arapaima to 560lb, Chao Phraya Catfish to 160lb, Mekong Catfish to 300lb, Siamese Carp to 200lb and Wallago Leri. Several other species are approaching the 100lb barrier, including the Amazon Redtail Catfish.

On your third and fourth fishing days, and on each day of your holiday, you will be fishing with your guide in your own private swim. The fishing methods are very similar to Carp fishing, but on a grander scale. The rigs are as basic as possible, but super effective, designed to avoid tangles and lost fish. All the gear is supplied, including top-of-the-range rods and reels, as well as strong end tackle, all of which have been carefully chosen to help you tame the lake’s monster residents.
Note: At Gillhams Resort, it’s two rods and reels per person. A certain amount of bait is also supplied each day free of charge, with the option to buy more at a very reasonable rate.

On your last two fishing days, if there’s a particular species of fish on your bucket list which you haven’t caught, let your guides know, and they will do their best to make it happen. Nothing in fishing is guaranteed, but it may be possible to adjust baits and methods to put you in the best chance of landing your target species.
All the guides at Gillhams are English-speaking, with one guide for four anglers. The guide’s knowledge of the lake and the fish is second to none. You will not go wrong if you listen to their advice and use the rigs and methods they recommend.

My husband and 13 year old son are both keen fishermen, I am a keen reader and sunbather!! All our needs were met here, plenty of loungers and a fantastic pool for me and the most amazing fishing ever for the boys.
The accomodation worked well for us, two bed rooms and shower and lovely verandah.
The surroundings are exceptional and are only beaten by the quality of the fish and the fishing. Having said that the professionalism, enthusiasm and skill of the team is what really stands out both on the fishing and non fishing sides. Whilst we worked mostly with Lee (who is an absolute star) we also had the pleasure of spending time with Joel, Chris and Steve who are all great lads and all of whom contributed in some way to our stay and success.

Your recommendation to go to Gillhams fishing resort in Krabi Thailand was more than spot on.
I have fished many places around the world on my own and this was the first time I decided to take my 10year old son Gillhams was absolutely breath taking.
My initial concern was the length of the flight but this was soon elevated by thia airways who where fantastic in every way.
Upon reaching Gillhams resort we were greeted by Stuart and the magical sound of rising fish having had a brief conversation with Stuart I explained that it was my sons first time and that we were both inexperienced in fresh water fishing as I have always fished for big game and that I wanted to make this trip a holiday of a lifetime for my son, which Stuart replied with out hesitation that he try’s to make every ones dream come true.so with that we where shown to our accommodation which was again fantastic.
6.30 the following morning we were greeted by one of the guides Scott and after a brief conversation put all our nerves at bay then it hit me…. How unbelievably beautiful the resort was both me and my son stood in absolute awe for what seemed forever . then bang the first fish was hooked then another and so on through out the whole duration of our stay.. as you can see by just a few of the pictures that I have sent you. And before we new it it was time to come home.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank every one yourselves and Stuart and his family for making us so welcome and Scott for looking after us so well and making time for my son even when the fishing had finished for the day.

Gillhams Fishing Resort has constructed a new fishing resort in the beautiful coastal area of Krabi, southern Thailand. Limescale karsts surround the fishing lake, restaurant and well-equipped bungalows. Set amongst 7-acres of lush manicured tropical gardens, which are lovingly cared for each day. They are giving the feeling of being in a piece of tropical paradise.
Each plant picked to offer the smells and colours associated with a tropical destination whilst still keeping that wild, unkempt look. It truly is a gem of a destination. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle to feel remote while still managing to be close enough to major attractions.
The resort offers eight luxury two-bedroom bungalows and six luxury one-bedroom bungalows, all set within 12 meters of the lake. These bungalows come supplied with multiple features and fitted with modern custom-built furniture, fridge, cable TV and DVD player, full air-con and ceiling fans. Plus, a safe for your valuables and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, towels are provided.
Every bungalow has a large covered balcony with stunning views over the lake and lime karst mountains in the surrounding national park. The complete resort has free high-speed WiFi, also offered at additional cost is a laundry service.
Power cuts are never an issue at Gillhams. The whole resort has backup generators to eliminate those annoying power cuts common in most Thai resorts. Newly built is the private three-bedroom villa for the larger groups. It is a real treat for any large families looking for a fantastic hideaway whilst remaining part of the resort. It comes with its private pool.
The restaurant onsite serves many different Thai dishes. All cooked in traditional Thai fashion by local chefs and local produces purchased from local markets. Each day you will have the option to try different Thai dishes. The list is extensive as they like to offer each person their take on Thai food.
If this food style is not for you and you prefer to stick to what you know, then Gillhams has you covered. There are more western style dishes than Thai dishes on the menu. They are used to catering to various people and are more than used to people wanting more English food.
There is also a quaint corner shop accessible from the resort. The shop stocks and sells the more minor, day-to-day items like drinks, ice creams, sun cream, snacks and much more. Overlooking the lake is the breathtaking infinity swimming pool, plus a gym. Shelter from the heat isn’t a problem either. All the fishing locations have a tiled sala for shelter, fitted with lights, fans and charging points.
To top it all off, Gillams Fishing Resort also has a spa with 4 x massage beds, a steam room and a large jacuzzi. If that wasn’t enough, another infinity swimming pool situated in the stunning landscaped gardens. It is overlooking beautiful ornamental fishing ponds plus an authentic cookery school.

The fishing resort is only a short distance to some very famous areas. These include Tha Lan Bay and the lively seafront resort of Ao-nang. We are sure you will find time to visit some of these stunning areas whilst on holiday. Be assured that you will not be pestered and harassed in Krabi province, unlike other Thailand destinations.
The local authorities have strict rules to keep this part of the country as a family destination. You will find hot springs in the surrounding national park and some stunning waterfalls that cascade into crystal clear pools—a superb place to take a dip and cool off after a walk through the unspoilt forests.
The twelve-acre lake has seen a massive transformation since it opened in 2007. The fish have gained a tremendous amount of weight in this time due to the strict fish care Gillhams fishing resort practices. All this set in seven acres of tropical manicured gardens. All of this adds up to give you a true feeling of a true tropical getaway.
There are 52 different species available on our Gillhams fishing holidays, with many world record-sized. From small species to truly huge monsters that will pull you all over the lake. There are six different species in the lake that exceed 100lbs. These being; Arapaima 500lb+, Chao Phraya Catfish 160lb+, Mekong Catfish 300lb+, Siamese Carp 200lb+ and Wallago Leeri 150lb+.
There are several other species in the lake that are fast approaching the magical 100lb mark. These include the Redtail catfish, which is a very sought after specimen. All the fish at Gillhams fishing resort have grown bigger and faster than anybody would have imagined and ever thought possible.
All tackle, rods and reels, alarms, rod pods, nets and slings are all provided and are from leading fishing manufacturers. Having the equipment supplied means you can turn up with just clothes and sunglasses and provide your fishing equipment for a week’s fishing. The resort does recommend you bring your alarms as the ones they use are well used. If you do not wish to take them, then the ones they supply will work just fine.
The fishing at Gillhams is primarily bait fishing with boilies. It is very much like Carp fishing but on a grander scale. Each angler will get their swim, and each swim has a good chunk of water to fish.
In front of you will either be open water or the far margin, both fish equally as well. The fishing will be done with method feeders with Gillham’s resort mix or solid PVA bags. These bags can give you a little significant edge.
Gillhams do not allow you to take your bait. This is to prevent any cross-contamination but will allow tubs of pop-ups and liquid attractants. Liquids are restricted to 50ml per angler per day and must be an unopened branded make. Gillhams will enable you to use Korda Goo’s, but the amount limited to one bottle per angler per week. Pop-ups that work well are sizes from 10mm to 14mm, and flavoured fish baits work better than fruit flavours.
Children between the ages of 12 and 16 can fish on our Gillhams fishing holidays. They must always be accompanied by an adult while fishing from 1 swim with the adult. It is possible to book a third rod if required. For example, if you want to share three rods between yourself and your child, that is fine.
Gillhams provide English speaking fishing guides. They work one guide between four anglers and will assist all anglers to the level required. They are on the lake every day, including on their days off. The guide’s knowledge of the lake and the fish is second to none. You will not go wrong if you listen to their advice and use the rigs and methods they recommend.
Apart from the world-class fishing, there are lots for the family to do. You can arrange day trips at the resort with a free pick up service. Other activities you can do after a good days fishing include visiting the very best beaches, accessed by private boat trips, elephant trekking, sea kayaking, horse riding and much more.
They have also got a newly built spa room with four massage beds, a steam room, Jacuzzi and a fantastic infinity pool. Sit back and relax while looking over the manicured tropical gardens. There is also a great cooking school where you can learn how to cook a vast range of traditional Thai dishes. Just stayed 10 nights at Gillham's and could not have been happier. Thank you Stuart, Sean, and the rest of the crew for all your help. Best place in the world for an opportunity to catch (and photograph) your favourite big fish. Arapaima, giant Siamese carp, Mekong catfish to name just a few. 48+ species, several over 100lbs, and a few world records all at one location.
Scenery, food, staff, and accommodation all excellent. Free wi-fi. And only a few kms to some of the most beautiful beaches in the planet. Spend a few minutes on the website to learn about the resort, amenities, fishing guidelines, species, etc. If you enjoy fishing, go to Gillhams!
There are some stunning fish in the lake and i will back Seb up with the World records. Once people have been to Gillhams it is hard to beat it

This place is amazing!! This is a paradise for every angler!!
my boyfriend and i stayed the for 3 nights last week and we can't complain. He caught 13 fishes in 3 days including 80-85 kg Arapaima. People who work there are so friendly and they are always there for you. I'm not fishing but you can use infinity pool and free wifi plus you can enjoy watching your man fishing many different huge fishes. We definitely coming back next year. Hello I would like to thank sportquest for making my dreams come true by setting up my holiday to the magical Gillhams fishing resorts . All the information I was giving about flights and transfers to GIllhams from the sportquest team was fantastic and made my trip run smooth with no problems what so ever .
Gillhams is truly a magical place that makes people's dreams come true on a daily basis. The scenery at Gillhams is breath taking and was a joy to wake up to every morning. The staff and guides are fantastic and will help u with all your needs to insure you have a fantastic holiday .
Weeks before my trip to GIllhams I watched all the videos of the place on YouTube and to be honest the videos don't do the place justice. Words can not describe the feeling of catching the monsters that live at Gillhams and lost count of the number of fish I caught during my trip.
One of the fish that I will always remember catching is a 527lb Arapaima which was so big I still can't believe I caught the beautiful fish . To be honest all the fish at Gillhams are in fantastic condition and well looked after .
The only advice I would give to anyone thinking about going is listen to the guides they know what they are talking about and they want to help you catch the fish of your dreams and with out the advice I would not have caught the fish I did .
We would like to thank you for taking he time to fill out your feed back form. It is very helpful for other travellers.
Also a massive thank you for emailing me so many pictures and the pictures of that Arapaima are awesome, something that i would love to do one day.

I had a great trip Paul, the Gillhams staff/guides were fantastic, could not do enough for you, i was really well looked after from start to finish. The fishing was fantastic, i never managed to get arapaima but i had a great time battling with the Amazon Red Tail Catfish! the biggest being 65lbs ..... absolutely beautiful fish in perfect condition! ... and the care they take with the fish is outstanding, the guides are a real credit to the place........ more than happy to do as much or as little for you as you wanted them to do.... and they knew so much about the fish their tips and advise was just fantastic, I was really really impressed with the whole set up. Nothing short of amazing!..... well worth the money, and i will defiantly be returning in the future.

Had a great holiday at Gillham's resort, this was my first trip with you and everything was great thanks. Only comment is the flight connection times of 4.5 hours was a bit long.
James glad to see that you had a great time at Gillhams resort, we do get lots of great reviews from this destination. In relation to flight connections, we do try to keep these down to a minimum, however as your holiday was only booked just over 1 month before departure there sometimes is not as many flights available. Sorry for this but rest assured we do look for the best flights at the time. Also glad to see that you wish to return which is always a great testament for any holiday. Tight Lines Paul

We have just spent the most enjoyable and memorable week at Gillhams.
My husband and 13 year old son are both keen fishermen, I am a keen reader and sunbather!! All our needs were met here, plenty of loungers and a fantastic pool for me and the most amazing fishing ever for the boys.
The accomodation worked well for us, two bed rooms and shower and lovely verandah.
The surroundings are exceptional and are only beaten by the quality of the fish and the fishing. Having said that the professionalism, enthusiasm and skill of the team is what really stands out both on the fishing and non fishing sides. Whilst we worked mostly with Lee (who is an absolute star) we also had the pleasure of spending time with Joel, Chris and Steve who are all great lads and all of whom contributed in some way to our stay and success.
The food was fantastic, the best Thai food we had all of our trip. What you have achieved is quite extraordinary and exceptional and cannot be faulted. We can’t wait to come back and we are already looking forward to it, we just need to work out when we can return now!

Well where should I start… I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sportquest Holidays for all their commitment to ensure that my son and my self had a holiday of a life time .(which we did ).
Your recommendation to go to Gillhams fishing resort in Krabi Thailand was more than spot on.
I have fished many places around the world on my own and this was the first time I decided to take my 10year old son Gillhams was absolutely breath taking.
My initial concern was the length of the flight but this was soon elevated by thia airways who where fantastic in every way.
Upon reaching Gillhams resort we were greeted by Stuart and the magical sound of rising fish having had a brief conversation with Stuart I explained that it was my sons first time and that we were both inexperienced in fresh water fishing as I have always fished for big game and that I wanted to make this trip a holiday of a lifetime for my son, which Stuart replied with out hesitation that he try’s to make every ones dream come true.so with that we where shown to our accommodation which was again fantastic.
6.30 the following morning we were greeted by one of the guides Scott and after a brief conversation put all our nerves at bay then it hit me…. How unbelievably beautiful the resort was both me and my son stood in absolute awe for what seemed forever . then bang the first fish was hooked then another and so on through out the whole duration of our stay.. as you can see by just a few of the pictures that I have sent you. And before we new it it was time to come home.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank every one yourselves and Stuart and his family for making us so welcome and Scott for looking after us so well and making time for my son even when the fishing had finished for the day.

I just had to write that although I have fished for 30 years and fished in some amazing places, I have to say that your fishery was the most beautiful, well managed, comfortable and has the most amazing fish & creatures within it.
The two arapaima that I had the good fortune to hook and land were stunning & the fight was mind blowing. The place left me awestruck and has embedded some memories that I believe will stay with me to my last days. A credit to all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears that you have no doubt had to endure cutting out your little piece of heaven. A truly wonderful fishery that is my opinion cannot be beaten - BLOODY FANTASTIC! Cheers, Tim

Gillham Resorts has created a paradise resort as well as a most fantastic fishing venue. The views are absolutely stunning, the fish are huge and most days feed well. Stuart has a good team with his son Sean and his partner Benz plus his very able guides. I cannot recommend this family resort and the fishing any more highly. More than anywhere else I have been in the world it's fantastic, so is the family atmosphere. Give it a try you will not be disappointed and like me and my friends you will return again and again.
