Inshore & Offshore Fishing

The fishing calendar at Anigua Beach House in Colombia is divided into two distinct and equally exciting seasons: the inshore season, running from March to June, and the offshore season, spanning September to January. Each season offers something unique, whether you prefer explosive surface strikes close to shore or the powerful runs of pelagic giants in deep water.

Inshore Season (March to June)

Inshore fishing during this time is driven by the spectacular Sardine migrations that light up the coastal waters of Bahia Solano. This seasonal influx draws in a wide variety of aggressive predators, creating fast-paced, high-action sessions for anglers casting from the shoreline or working the reefs and bays. Pacific Sailfish and Yellowfin Tuna are two of the most popular species, but Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Tarpon, and Amberjack are all common during this period, and fishing techniques like popping, jigging, and fly fishing can be especially effective. The warm, calm conditions also make this an ideal time for anglers new to tropical saltwater fishing or those looking for an action-packed, light-tackle adventure.

Offshore Season (September to January)

For those drawn to the bluewater experience, the offshore season delivers unforgettable deep-sea action just a few miles from shore. These months are peak time for targeting Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, and Dorado, which migrate through the nutrient-rich Pacific currents that sweep past Bahia Solano. Anglers can expect long, thrilling battles, with opportunities for multiple hook-ups in a single day. Whether you’re trolling, using live bait, or casting poppers to breaking Tuna, this season promises a serious test of skill and stamina.

No matter which season you choose, fishing at Anigua Beach House means experiencing some of Colombia’s most untouched waters, guided by expert crews, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, and immersed in a wild, natural setting that few anglers have ever explored.

The Fishing Boats

All fishing at Anigua Beach House is conducted from 38ft Bertram sport fishing boats, designed with both performance and comfort in mind; they provide the perfect platform for an unforgettable fishing experience in Bahia Solano. These vessels are equipped with top-of-the-line Garmin radar systems for pinpoint navigation, tuna tubes and live wells to keep baits in peak condition, and a full range of high-quality fishing gear to give you the best possible shot at success on the water.

In addition to their fishing capability, the Bertrams offer a level of onboard comfort that’s ideal for both serious anglers and families. Each boat is fitted with modern bathroom facilities and ample storage, including refrigerated compartments to keep your catch fresh.

With a highly experienced captain and crew at the helm, safety and service are at the forefront. The team utilises advanced navigational tools and carries complete safety equipment, allowing you to relax and focus on fishing while they take care of the rest.

To round out the experience, you’ll be treated to freshly prepared lunches served onboard, along with a fully stocked cooler offering soft drinks and ice-cold beers. Whether you’re chasing Marlin offshore or casting closer to shore, these boats ensure you do it in total comfort.

Family Fishing Holiday

While Anigua Beach House is celebrated for its exceptional bluewater fishing, it’s just as appealing for non-angling guests, couples, and families seeking a unique and immersive escape. Set in the heart of Colombia’s wild Pacific coastline, the lodge offers a rich selection of activities that showcase the natural beauty and vibrant biodiversity of Bahia Solano, ideal for those looking to relax, explore, or connect with nature.

Guests can snorkel alongside whale sharks, guided by experienced marine biologists who offer fascinating insights into the lives of these gentle giants. For those who prefer to stay dry, private whale-watching tours provide unforgettable close-up encounters with humpback whales during their seasonal migration. Another highlight is the turtle liberation experience, where you can help release sea turtle hatchlings into the ocean, supporting local conservation and creating lasting memories.

The surrounding jungle and coastline also offer superb bird-watching, with year-round guided tours giving you the chance to spot vibrant species like the Blue Cotinga, Golden-winged Manakin, and a host of hummingbirds. Beyond wildlife encounters, guests can enjoy a variety of eco hikes, river cruises, and authentic cultural experiences, making Anigua Beach House a destination that delivers just as much off the water as it does on it. Whether you’re travelling with family, a partner or simply looking for something different, this hidden gem on Colombia’s coast promises a truly well-rounded adventure.
