Andros South Lodge offers direct access to the best saltwater fly fishing in the Bahamas, with untouched flats, vast bonefish schools, and the kind of low pressure fishing that is getting harder to find. If you are serious about bonefish, this is where you go to stalk them in ankle deep water and watch them eat.
The flats around South Andros are legendary. They are huge, hard bottomed, and lightly fished. You will cover inland creeks, island systems, and ocean side flats, all by skiff and on foot. Whether you are chasing tailing singles, spooky doubles, or schools of cruising bones, the guides here know how to put you in the right water at the right time.
Bonefish average 3 to 5lb with regular shots at 8lb plus fish, and for those who want to mix it up, Tarpon, Barracuda, Jacks, and Snapper also patrol the edges. You will fish two anglers per guide, with sharp, experienced Bahamian guides who understand the tides, the fish, and your casting window.
Andros South Lodge is casual, comfortable, and perfectly located, just minutes from the flats. Expect clean rooms, cold drinks, great food, and a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. You are here to fish, and fish hard.
As the UK’s leading specialist in fly fishing holidays, Sportquest Holidays will handle everything so secure your place at Andros South Lodge and experience Bonefishing the way it should be technical, unpressured, and set on the largest flats in the Bahamas.

"I'd fished once before in the Bahamas, but had never been to Andros South - It was something I really fancied as I'd heard how good the Bonefish fishing was. (If there's one fish I'll never get tired of catching its Bonefish). I certainly wasn't disappointed and every aspect of my trip, from the flights to the accommodation, exceeded my expectations. I had a great week and landed a tonne of fish. A huge thank you to everyone who made it possible. "
"What a brilliant, brilliant place! I'd never been away fishing before and was a little nervous, but I had no need to be. Everything from start to finish ran so smoothly and everyone I encountered throughout the duration of my trip was most helpful and accommodating. The fishing was superb too. It may have been my first trip away, but it certainly won't be my last. Thank you. "
"Me and my partner had the most wonderful time on South Andros Island. The fishing was as spectacular as the scenery and the Lodge was perfect for anglers who'd had a long day fishing on the flats. The fresh Lobster was out of this world and the Tiki Hut was a fantastic place to meet up and chat in the evenings - We've kept in contact with a couple of the American anglers we met and I think we may even return again next year with them. "
"Having just returned from Andros South we would both like to say thank you for organising everything for us.
The attention to detail is what made your company stand out from the rest. As first time customers and beginners at saltwater fly fishing we had lots of questions, and although we must have driven you mad at times, nothing was to much trouble.
Highly recommended operation

"Before my trip, I'd read online that South Andros Island was considered the 'Bonefish Capital Of The World'... after experiencing it first hand I'd say this statement is spot on! I had a fantastic week and landed countless Bonefish. They probably averaged around 3-4lb, but I also had a decent number of better ones to around 6-7lb. Thanks to everyone involved in making my trip happen - I loved every second of it. "
"I had an absolutely brilliant time on South Andros Island. The fishing was first class and I landed plenty of Bonefish each day and even had a couple of shots at Permit (although I couldn't persuade them to take my fly!). The lodge is an out and out fishing lodge, but perfect for anglers - the staff and guides were very accommodating too. "

Andros South is a friendly, laid-back Bonefishing lodge that concentrates on providing a focused fishing experience that is second to none.
The fishing lodge is situated on a beautiful white sandy beach, encompassed by well-maintained grounds, filled with coconut palms and various other native plants. The beach’s location takes advantage of the consistent warm Trade winds of the Bahamas, and it’s the perfect spot for an after-dinner walk, swim or even a place to hone your casting skills in preparation for your next day of fishing.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and air-conditioned, and each features a private bathroom and a warm relaxing shower. Probably the most enticing fact about the accommodations at Andros South is that each angler will have their own private room. Unless otherwise requested, each angler visiting the lodge will have single-occupancy accommodations – something that is both rare and difficult to find at most bonefish lodges.
The dining room is welcoming and laid back. It’s perfect for enjoying cocktails, great meals and conversation with friends, both old and new. The Tiki Hut, newly constructed in the spring of 2006, is the new favourite spot to enjoy coffee in the morning, a cold Kalik in the afternoon, and in the evening exchanging stories with fellow anglers of the one’s that got away.
Dinner is served at 6:30 pm and is family-style, featuring the finest and freshest products the island can offer. Each meal is individually prepared by the lodges kitchen staff and combines all the Bahamas’ tastes and flavours. Fresh local fish, lobster, chicken and conch all regularly feature on the menu, along with fresh desserts including key lime and coconut pie. Complimentary wine is also available during dinner.
Guests with dietary requirements are requested to notify us before arriving, so we can adjust to your personal needs.

South Andros Island is widely known as the ‘Bonefishing Capital Of The World’, with the sheer amount of Bonefish making it the go-to destination for any diehard saltwater fly angler in the Bahamas. The diversity and size of the fishery mean travelling saltwater fly fishing anglers can enjoy a different fishing experience every day. Wade sparkling white sand flats, pole remote mangrove creeks, discover remote cays and explore expansive ocean flats; it’s all possible, and variety is undoubtedly the spice of life on the island.
Located in settlement of Kemp’s Bay on the southeastern shore of Andros Island, Andros South Lodge fly-fishes some of the most diverse, productive and least travelled waters in all of the Bahamas. In the remote, rarely visited cays, you’ll find vast schools of Bonefish averaging 2-4lb, and it’s not unusual to lose count of the number of fish you hook and land at the end of each day. But it’s not just vast numbers of fish that South Andros is famous for, the expansive ocean-side flats attract bruisers from the deep, and there’s always plenty of chances for the angler to tail and land that trophy fish.
The lodge resembles an old-school “Bonefish Camp” that emphasizes fishing in a fun and laid-back island setting. Don’t expect white linen tablecloths but do expect a very experienced, friendly and dedicated service. If you’re serious about fishing the flats while having some fun, then Andros South is the place for you.

The fishing on South Andros is renowned for its diversity and productivity and covers four main areas; the east side, south side, west side, and inland. Each area differs in what it can offer the saltwater fly angler; some area’s are home to large groups of average-sized Bonefish, whereas some are home to single specimen sized fish.
Every day the fishing can be tailored to what you’d like to do and what you’d like to catch; the guides at the lodge are highly skilled and can plan your day, using your level of experience, skillset and fishing objectives. However, one thing is for sure, whether you’re a novice or expert angler, you’ll have a fishing experience of a lifetime on the flats of South Andros.
The island is home to an impressive number of tidal creeks and inland flats that provide incredible habitat for hungry Bonefish of all sizes. The species are abundant and can give the saltwater fly angler a hectic and exciting days fishing. Most encounters with the Bonefish are on extensive shallow flats or winding mangrove creeks in 1 to 2 feet of water. The fish will often be moving quickly on the tide and grubbing as they go, on the lookout for shrimp, crabs, worms, shellfish and small baitfish.
When fishing for Bonefish, it’s often viewed as a combination of fishing and hunting, so you must stay alert and watch the water for any signs of inbound fish. The guides are also on hand to do so, but there’s nothing more exciting and rewarding than laying down your cast and observing a big Bonefish turn and inhale your fly. While you will often see and cast to larger schools of relatively easy-to-catch fish, the biggest specimens will often be travelling in singles or pairs, and they can present a much more formidable challenge to the angler. The fish average between 2-4lb, but specimens to over 10lb get regularly landed. If you’d like to know more about catching Bonefish, why not read our blog on Everything You Need To Know About Catching Bonefish.
Although famed for the quality Bonefish fishing, other traditional flats species also inhabit the waters of South Andros Island. The Permit, another saltwater favourite, can also be targeted on the fly.

The guides at the lodge are some of the most skilled and experienced in the Bahamas. Growing up and fishing the waters in and around the island, they possess intimate knowledge of the habitats that the bonefish call home. They know every acre of the flats and every nook and cranny of the mangrove creeks. They know the tides, the fish, and they’ll know exactly where to take you as and when conditions change. They aren’t simply just knowledgeable fishing guides though, they’re great characters. A day on the water with one of them is like a day out fishing with a good friend, one who will work tirelessly to put you on fish and entertain you with stories about the islands.
As well as world-class guides, South Andros Island also boasts top-notch equipment, ensuring that your stay is safe and comfortable and that you’re free to enjoy the bounties of the flats. The fishing boats are a mix of Dolphin, Mitzi, and Rahming skiffs complete with poling platforms, 55 to 60 HP Yamaha and Mercury outboards, and spacious casting decks. They’re roomy, comfortable and shallow draft, ideally suited to fish the Andros flats.
You can take your fishing tackle, but if not, top-quality ‘loaner’ rods and reels are available for you to use. The lodge has a range of perfect 8-weight Bonefish rods, heavier 10-weight rods if you fancy a date with a Barracuda and even a selection of spinning gear, ideal for those windier days or when launching a pencil popper across the flats sounds like fun.
