Giant Bluefin Tuna Fishing Canada Prince Edward Island Canada

Customer Rating 90%

Tuna Capital of the World: Big Game Fishing, Prince Edward Island, Canada

This is Prince Edward Island, set off the coast of Nova Scotia, globally recognised as the “Tuna Capital of the World” and home to the biggest Bluefin on the planet. Here, fish break records with trophies over 1,000lb caught every season, and average fish running 700–800lb. These giants are battled on heavy stand-up tackle from deep-sea charter boats, and every hook-up is a true test of strength, endurance, and willpower.

Fishing is with Mackerel baits, either using kite or chumming close to the boat, often surrounded by shoals of Tuna so large they move water like passing cars. Regulations allow just one fish per day, but that one could well be the monster of a lifetime. Guided by an experienced captain and team they will put you in the correct areas. Whether you’re a seasoned angler chasing your trophy, or a beginner, the crew will give as much support as needed to help you land your dream catch, with all tackle and equipment included.

Off the water, retire to the charming Rollo Bay Inn, offering picturesque views and free Wi-Fi. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace and stunning evening walks along the beach.

Sportquest handle every detail. You focus on the fish.

If you want the ultimate big game battle against some of the world’s largest Bluefin Tuna, Prince Edward Island is your next big trip.

Learnt some great new techniques like kite fishing..... what a way to fish and may try it at home for other species we will let you know how we get on with it.

Everything went well and hopefully they may find my Ipad one day

"What a disaster with regards to the flights. We were late leaving Edinburgh making us miss our connecting flight from London. After a quick call to you guys and a further whack on the credit card you had us booked on the next available flight. Once we finally arrived the office of the hire car company was closed and we were stuck at the airport very late in the day. Thank god you gave us an emergency phone number to call. We soon got picked up by our skipper and taken to our hotel.

Apart from the little disaster with the flights, the fishing was world class and we managed to all catch fish of our dreams."

"My arms a just a little longer after doing battle with those Tuna. When you said they pulled hard you were not joking. I would highly recommend any sports angler to try this at least once in their life time. Plus we witnessed the skipper almost hand feeding these beasts taking the bait literally inches from his hand. Thanks for making our dreams come true.

The only negative things was that it would be great to have an organised transfer as neither of us like driving abroad and after such a long flight it was the last thing that either of us wanted to do was drive for an hour or so to the accommodation, but saying that it was handy to have a hire car as the accommodation was set in stunning scenery but very quiet area so we headed out every night.

All in all top marks"

Great experience and with us only ever doing Marlin fishing once before, this Tuna fishing was something else. Seeing all those Tuna swimming around the boat was mind-blowing. Tuna Fishing Prince Edward Island

If you are a trophy angler searching for record-sized Tuna, then Prince Edward Island Bluefin Tuna fishing in Nova Scotia is the place for you. The Giant Bluefin Tuna surrounding the Island are beasts and will test any angler to their limit. These giant Tuna grow over 1000lb’s and are caught regularly by anglers on stand up and fight gear, but make sure you take your “A” game as these fish fight dirty. You will be fishing the Atlantic Ocean, the area around Prince Edwards Island is renowned as a Bluefin Tuna hotspot with some genuinely monstrous fish working their way through here.

Fishing off Prince Edward Island started to kick off in 1967. Back then the Bluefin Tuna were known locally as Horse Mackerel. Locals classed them as nuisance fish as they tore the fishermen’s nets to pieces. Some years later, the word started to spread around the sportfishing community, which lead to a boom in fishing charters. All were taking anglers fishing to target Bluefin Tuna. The monsters caught were more than 1000lb. Nowadays, Bluefin Tuna fishing Nova Scotia Prince Edward Island is known globally as the “Tuna Capital of the world.” It will not be long before the world record falls again and we are confident that Prince Edward Island will be the home to the new record.

Where is the best Bluefin Tuna Fishing

If you embark on a Bluefin Tuna Charter fishing trip, you will be blown away by this spectacular destination, creating a phenomenal amount of re-bookings on return from customers. The Island is a province off the coast of Nova Scotia in Eastern Canada. The local people’s friendly nature, delicious fresh seafood, dreamy blue water, and the giant Bluefin Tuna fishing attracts thousands of visitors each year. The Atlantic Ocean that surrounds Prince Edward Island is a vast sea full of true giants waiting for you to tempt them with tasty fish bait. If Tuna fishing holidays appeal to you, then we have some fantastic saltwater destinations worldwide that offer the same excellent fishing opportunities.

When targeting these giant fish it is possible only to catch one fish a day, but this fish could well be the monster you have dreamt about with an average weight of 750LB, and sometimes trophy fish of over 1000LB are landed. Prince Edward Island or PEI offers the angler the best chance of a true giant and could well be classed as the best in the world.

Prince Edward Island Bluefin Tuna Fishing

Bluefin Tuna fishing in Nova Scotia, primarily regarded as one of the world’s best fishing experiences. You will be deep-sea fishing from a boat skippered by one of the very best Bluefin Tuna charters out there. You will be fishing with heavy tackle, designed for the mighty Bluefin Tuna. You will be fishing with Mackerel baits, either using a kite or by chumming the fish close to the boat.

When out big game fishing and a shoal of these Tuna surrounds you it is like watching cars drive through the water, their sheer size and power moves so much water and when there are lots of fish over 700LB swimming around the boat a carefully placed Mackerel bait will be all it takes. It will sometimes be possible to almost hand feed these giant Tuna but make sure that when they take your rigged up bait you are ready as they do not hang around. Once you hooked your prize, the fun can begin. The governing body for fishing in Prince Edward Island have stringent rules to protect the Tuna stocks and enforce a fight time, and this has to be adhered to at all times. We have written a blog explaining about is big game trolling fishing right for me this may help you decide if the holiday is right for you

Prince Edward Island Best Skipper & Boat

We use the very best newly custom-built 45ft fibreglass fishing boat, powered by a 430 horsepower Cummins engine. Onboard it is equipped with top of the line electronics including a 3D bottom charting plotter. The boat we use at prince Edward island also has radar equipped with “structure scan technology”. The Captain, Scott, is proud to be the two-time winning boat captain of the Canadian Tuna Cup Tournament.

This award presented to the Captain, whose charter landed the largest Bluefin Tuna during the competition. Good friend Ken listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having landed the biggest giant Bluefin Tuna ever. The Tuna weighed in at an unbelievable 1496LB! You will be fishing on board Scott’s boat, which will be your private Prince Edward Island Bluefin Tuna Fishing charter for as many days as you have booked. His team will ensure that you are fishing in the correct areas. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced angler, Scott will teach you how to land one of these giants successfully. All tackle, equipment, and training will be provided to ensure you have the best time.

Scott Bruce originated from Prince Edward island bluefin tuna fishing, Canada and is the third generation of the fisherman who has spent their lives fishing in this area. They have made their livings from the Lobster and Tuna fishing off Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia’s coast. Being raised in this environment, Scott learned the life skills needed to be a successful fisherman, and he soon found himself fishing even in his spare time. Scott enrolled at St. Francis Xavier University, where he got his Bachelor of Science degree and a major in Physical Education. It wasn’t long before the salty air was calling Scott back and in 1997 he found himself in possession of his very own fishing boat so he could fish for Lobster and Tuna and the rest is history.

Hello Mark the skipper of your boat phoned us the night you guys caught the big one saying you were having a great time. He commented on how the fishing was a little slow and I thought having two fish over 700Lb between you was pretty good going. I will try and catch up with you soon as I know how busy you normally are.

Hi Darren I did try and tell you that you should get your self up the gym! It really is an extreme experience and one that I wish I had the time to do myself. Maybe one day.

The transfer part of the holiday is the only bad comment we get for this destination but we have tried to book taxi's and they have not turned up and we can not find a good reliable ground handler that sticks to what they say. We know its not ideal having to pick up a hire car but like you mentioned, having the car with you is great for the evenings so you can off and explore a bit.

Would love to see your pictures soon plus I heard you have got some great under water footage of the fish feeding? Would love to see it.
