Despite the recent deluge of rain and the higher than average water levels, the fishing on the rivers at the Salmon Lodge has still been very productive, with plenty of opportunities from both bank and boat.

Oh, what a week… What’s one more curveball sent our way this season!
As you can see in the photos below, that is our beautiful gin-clear Bonaventure River, the Bonaventure River before and after it received the deluge of rain we experienced this week. From now on, I think we will have to be a little more cautious and precise with our rain requests and prayers! Unfortunately, on Sunday, we could not fish the river at all, as she hit a high of 146 cubic meters per second.
Fortunately, the Grand Cascapedia and the Petite Cascapedia did experience the same fate as the Bonaventure. Despite their water levels being higher than average for the time of year, they were still fishable. The Grand Cascapedia began her week flowing in the 30 cubic meters per second range and ended at 36.87. The Petite Cascapedia ended last week at 13 cubic meters per second and now finds herself flowing at 51.13.
Our weather and temperatures have accommodated everyone who loves fall, and that season is quickly approaching! We can feel it with our 8-degree Celsius mornings.
Despite all this, we’ve still been blessed with another great week on the river, with the healthy water levels providing some varied opportunities for both wading and boat fishing. This week, the most productive flies have been the Stone Ghost, Ally’s Shrimp, Red Francis and Black Bear.
Until next week, here’s to health, happiness and tight lines.
