Our anglers on our hosted trip to Rio Marie Lodge in Brazil have just returned home, and they enjoyed a fantastic week landing over 190 fish across their six days of fishing, with four even joining the famed “20lb club”. Weather Conditions:
This week, we experienced mostly sunny days with temperatures ranging from 29ºC to 40ºC (84ºF to 104ºF). The heat of the jungle added to the intensity of the pursuit, reminding anglers that the untamed Amazon does not easily yield its treasures.
River Conditions:
Water levels continued to drop steadily, providing ideal conditions for targeting the giants of Rio Marié.

This week saw an eager group of British anglers make their debut on the fabled waters of the Rio Marié. For these anglers, the experience was as much about discovery as it was about fishing. As they quickly learned, the peacock bass of Rio Marié are not just fish—they are one of the most amazing fish with a fly rod, known for their raw power and explosive strikes.
After the initial challenge of adapting to the aggressive nature of these jungle predators, the anglers soon began to find success. By week’s end, their determination paid off with some remarkable catches. Highlights of the Week:
A standout moment came from angler Per Nordgren, who had a week to remember. After an afternoon spent battling a fierce 18lb peacock bass, Per hooked into his first 20lb beast—a rite of passage on the Rio Marié. What made this achievement extraordinary was what followed. Just moments after releasing his trophy fish, Per cast again and found himself in another intense battle. In an almost unbelievable stroke of luck, he landed another giant peacock bass, weighing over 20lbs.
Two back-to-back trophies in one session—an unforgettable testament to the wild bounty of the Rio Marié.
