After a fantastic week here in Vesterålen with many hours at sea and wonderfully varied fishing, we can confirm yet another new camp record and a truly great catch! Currently, it’s becoming increasingly rare to see those really big lingcod due to overfishing on the often local and sensitive stocks.
Therefore, we are especially delighted to fish in such an incredible area as here in Vesterålen, where there are still so many dream fish swimming, like this incredible lingcod weighing a whopping 10.5kg!!!
This fish is incredibly important for the stock, carrying fine genes, and therefore was, of course, released back into the water. We also encourage others to release these large specimens so that we can continue to have such fine fishing in the future.
The week has also offered great fishing for cod, halibut, pollock, plaice, haddock, whiting, and redfish, once again demonstrating the awesome fishing for various species we have here, with many species often caught overlapping in many places. Cod up to 16-17 kilos have been caught, pollock up to 12-13 kilos, plaice weighing 2-2.5 kilos, haddock up to 4 kilos, whiting weighing 3-5 kilos, halibut up to 117 centimeters, and a moderate-sized redfish.
