You will be based in the pretty little town of Caspe, located in the province of Zaragoza, in the west of the country. This area is rich with culture and is famous for its vineyards and beautiful countryside.
When targeting the giant Wels Catfish that inhabit the world-famous River Ebro, you will be fishing in some of Spain’s most renowned river system. The Ebro is well known for its other monster fish, that live amongst these giant Catfish, such as the big Carp that also swim these waters.

The fishing on the River Ebro is phenomenal, and for the freshwater angler, this is one destination that you simply have to fish. Our fishing areas give anglers the chance to catch some absolute monster fish, reaching over 200lb.
All fishing will be done from the river bank, and your guide will take your rig and bait to areas that are known to hold giant fish. Your guide will help you every step of the way, which in turn will mean that your fishing experience on the Ebro will be the best it can be.
You will be predominantly fishing for bottom-feeding fish, ledgering baits on the bottom, using a specifically designed tackle for this type of fishing. The kit provided for you to use is high-quality. These Cats will find any weak links, so you must be fishing with the best tackle to tame these monsters.
With Catfish exceeding 200lb and Carp over 40lb, this river offers a genuine chance of hooking a monster. When the bite alarms scream off, you never quite know what might be on the end of your line. As this trip is based on a room only basis, you will have the chance to either eat in the hotel itself or venture out into Caspe and sample one of the many pubs or restaurants within this beautiful town. The restaurant in the hotel serves traditional cuisine utilising Mediterranean products sourced from their own vegetable gardens, and quality meats.
The restaurant offers set menus for those who want a healthy diet, and they also have an A la Carte menu still maintaining the basis of traditional products. For breakfast, they serve an all you can eat buffet, and there is also a picnic service for trips outside of the Hotel, excellent for those choosing to go fishing. Travel from Barcelona airport to Caspe
Once you have arrived and collected your luggage, you will need to make your way to the arrivals hall, where a representative from our partners will be waiting to transfer you to your accommodation. The journey time is approximately three hours and will see you drive through some lovely Spanish scenery. After you have checked into your hotel, you can explore Caspe and try one of the local restaurants nearby.

On fishing days one and two, you will have the opportunity to experience first-class freshwater fishing on the renowned River Ebro. This vast and famous waterway is home to some of Europe’s biggest Catfish, with fish over 200lb a genuine possibility. You will be fishing from some known areas that see regular bait, ensuring that the Catfish are not far away.
Overnight accommodation: Caspe Hotel in a twin room on a room only basis
On your third and fourth fishing days, and throughout your fishing week, you’ll rise early, departing for the river after breakfast at the hotel for a full day of fishing – typically around eight hours. Your guide will stay with you all day, ensuring your rigs and bait are positioned in the best areas. The rigs are generally taken out in a boat and dropped off along with the pellets.

On your last two fishing days, or at any point during your week, you can choose to target some of the hard-fighting carp that inhabit the Ebro, some of which grow to over 40lb. Just let your guides know, and they will give you some lighter setups and take you to some slightly different areas. Many of the best Carp fishing spots can be found close in, in the margins.

Depending on what time your flights are, you will be transferred back to the airport. Your guide will arrange with you what time you will be picked up from your hotel. The transfer takes approximately three hours and the guide will make sure you leave in plenty of time to catch your flight.

The fishing was very hard due to high temps but luckily by the end of the week the weather started to cool down and the fishing just got better and better. I will send you a couple of pictures when I have time

Hi Paul thanks for all your help with this trip. We have been to Spain before and tried to do it ourselves and this time it felt alot more organised. The host, Paul Booth, helped us rig up every day and put us on fish time after time. My Cat was the biggest of the week at 179LB and Tony said he would try and send some pictures to you as soon as he can.
The accommodation made a lovely change to what else is on offer in Spain and was surprised with Caspe, lots to do in the evenings.

Hi Sportquest holidays after a little disaster with our flights turning up in Spain late and missing our transfer we soon had things sorted and found ourselves at the hotel you had booked for us. It was more than we were expecting and the staff were very helpful even though it was nearly midnight when we turned up. Paul called us first thing in the morning to make sure we had arrived and arranged what time we wanted to go fishing. The weather was a little cooler than normal which Paul said was making the Cats feed more so every one was very excited about going fishing.
To cut a long story short we all had massive Catfish and a few good Carp so in general the holiday was a great success. Thanks Mel for organising a new transfer for us and tell Peter we will send him some pictures

Wow it was hot high 30's every day. the fishing was a little slow we had cats from 50LB to 110LB. Paul was a great guide and kept us entertained on the slow days

Still by the sounds of it you caught a few fish and can not wait to see the pictures of Wayne swimming in that stream you were talking about..... When my husband asked me to organise a fishing holiday to Spain I really did not know what to expect. We have been on the odd days fishing when on holiday before but never a full organised fishing holiday. It all went very well and Paul was a great host making sure not only my husband was being looked after but also myself as I did not tend to fish very much. I tried reeling in one of Johns catfish but had to give up after 10 minutes as I thought it may well pull me in.

I went Catfish fishing on the Ebro with Paul Booth as my guide .
Although the water level is very low for this time of year we caught a lot of Cats to 184 LBS
And Carp to 41 lbs.
