Nappstraumen, Fishing Report 13th July 2023

This week we have had really good weather, with little wind, high temperatures and good fishing! The boat has mostly fished on the outer side of Lofoten. Good fishing was reported already on the first day. Mainly Cod and Coalfish, of which there is a lot now. Perfect food fish, but also some better top fish up to 10kg. Friday morning we gathered a bunch of boats, and drove a bit south, where we would spend the day on Halibut fishing. Kristian, who guided a group of Brits, hooked a few smaller Cod quite quickly, before Robin suddenly had a seriously good rod bend. We quickly realized that this was a big Halibut. After 30 minutes of intense fighting, the fish came up saying, and the land was perfect. 197cm!

The other boats that were in the same area were fishing well. A lot of Halibut was reported this day, with most around 90-100cm. And one 118cm. The halibut fishing has continued to deliver well, and it has become the land of fine food fish every day. Boat 9 had a nice session on the outside where they caught 7 in a few hours of fishing, where three of them went home and the rest got to swim back. During the week, some really nice top fish have been caught! Apart from the one at 197cm, Halibut at 180 and 140cm have also been taken.

There has been very good Coalfish fishing during the week. They put up a good fight, especially on lighter gear! Many have tested this fishing, and the size has been 8-10kg. The top fish was around 15kg. Among all the seine, you can also find the Cod. They have been a little challenging to get it to bite some days, but once you find Cod willing to bite, we have had good fishing, where you quickly fill the box with nice food fish of 5-10kg. There are many guests who wonder if there is an opportunity for Haddock fishing in the area. It certainly is, and preferably when you drift a little towards deeper won at 50-80 meters. We have found large quantities of nice Haddock there during the week. With the fantastic weather we have had, there have been a lot of fishing hours for our guests. Exclusive species such as Monkfish of 8 kg, more Wolffish and Herring have come up.

Plaice fishing has been good in the local area. The boats that have chosen and spend time on this fishing have had good fishing success. A nice number of fish, with some nice top fish around 55-60 cm
