HELI FISHING
The eighth week of the heli fishing program season, we saw catches of large resident dorado weighing up to 17 and even 20 pounds, as well as large pacú up to 15 pounds. The large dorado were caught using mouse imitations! We also caught some smaller dorado with dry flies and streamers. This week, we had clients from Argentina, the United States, and Bolivia.
PLUMA LODGE
In the regular program during the eighth week here at Pluma, there were catches of dorado weighing up to 15 pounds, pacú caught with dry flies, and yatorana in situations with submerged logs using streamers. This week, we had clients from Argentina, the United States, and Bolivia.
SECURE LODGE
This week we received five guests: three friends and a couple, all from USA. The weather was nice; comfortable for fishing, with cool and cloudy conditions almost every day. The rain didn’t appear, which meant the river remained low and very clear.
We used topwater flies in the lower section, getting dorado and yatorana on Titanic sliders and mouse imitations. In the upper and middle sections, as well as in the section far up, the fishermen landed dorado on classic streamers and topwater flies as well. The pacú game showed consistent activity, with several chances and fat black plates stranded on the beaches.
AGUA-NEGRA LODGE
The tenth week of the season gave us the chance to fish with Tom, his sons, and his good friend John. The weather was good throughout the week and we could fish all our beats normally.
The Sécure gave us most of the catches for dorado and some pacú when fishing the log structure. The Agua Negra, where we made three camps, gave us good chances of pacú and some yatorana with dry flies, though unfortunately we could not achieve the landing of big dorado.
The Chimoro also had its good days where we managed to catch two surubi with a fly, which is not very common since they are fish that are rarely found hunting.
