HELI FISHING
During the ninth week of the season in the heli-fishing program, we caught resident Dorado ranging from 10-14 pounds. These catches were made using mouse patterns and Titanic Sliders. We also landed some smaller Dorado using poppers, taking advantage of the changing water colour due to the rainy days. This week, we had clients from the United States and Sweden.
SECURE LODGE
The 11th week in Sècure Lodge was shared with six guests, all of them from the USA: a family consisting of four members and another two friends.
This new adventure began with the river in a low level, warm weather and two big Pacù stranded on the beach the first day. After that, rain appeared the second day, changing the game, giving better chances for the approach, and increasing the activity everywhere. These conditions found their pinnacle in the middle of the week, when the rain became strong enough to increase the level of water and get it a little bit dirty. At that moment, with fly rods in hand and the right choices about flies, the typical “extra bonus” offered as fish become more active gave to everyone the chance to play with all sizes of Dorado, including two monsters which won both battles in awesome situations. One of the monsters exploded a fly line and the other—after taking a topwater fly in a tailout ten inches deep—blowing up 40-pound fluorocarbon.
The outcamp enjoyed by the team of friends far up was very good as well, with some Pacù lost and several Dorado hooked, finishing a great week with yellow bullions for everybody.
AGUA-NEGRA LODGE
Last week we were visited by five friends from the USA: Joe and two sets of brothers: Michael and David, and John and Rick.
The weather was not very favorable since in the middle of the week we were hit by a cold front with a lot of rain which—for a moment was very good—but complicated the rivers for the rest of the week. On the day of the first rain, the fishing was excellent in some of the rivers, giving us very good catches of Dorado and large Yatorana.
We did three camps on the Agua Negra River, which gave us great catches of Pacù with fruit imitations and some nice chances for big Dorados, which unfortunately we couldn’t land. The main river (Sècure) still had dirty water at the end of the week , but gave us some good catches of Dorado prospecting shallow riffles where we could see the tails while they chased Sábalos.
