Big-water fishing and refined comfort meet at Sørøya, Sportquest’s most exclusive all-inclusive sea fishing holiday. Cod smash shads with brutal force, Coalfish tear across the surface in frenzied packs, and Halibut measured in metres rise from the depths to strike. Every drift beyond the Arctic Circle carries the chance of a fish that defines a career. In spring, the Skrei migration brings Cod to 70lb and beyond, heavy, hard-hitting fish that test both tackle and stamina. Through summer, Halibut dominate, striking lures in shallow bays or crushing baits on the drop. Add Plaice, Wolffish, Dabs, and Redfish, and this is a destination built on size, power, and variety.
Fishing is from the Apex, a one-of-a-kind guide boat fitted with the latest technology and skippered by a seasoned local captain. Stable, spacious, and designed for precision, it puts anglers on the best marks day after day. All catches are professionally prepared, filleted, and frozen on site, ensuring nothing is left to chance.
Accommodation is in striking fjord-front apartments with glass façades framing the water and mountains. Each features modern bedrooms, private bathrooms, and shared living spaces designed for comfort. The experience is fully all-inclusive, with hearty breakfasts, fresh afternoon teas, and indulgent five-course evening meals prepared by the lodge’s chefs. Norwegian ingredients, fine wines, and thoughtful service transform each meal into part of the holiday. A sauna and drying room complete the package, ensuring anglers relax in style after long days on the water.
This is a holiday for anglers who like guided precision, Arctic giants, and luxury without compromise. Secure your place at Sørøya and combine world-class fishing with world-class comfort.

In conjunction with our partner Big Fish Adventure, we’re excited to offer our new luxury, all-inclusive sea fishing package to the world-famous island of Soroya. New for 2025, this fully guided trip is exclusive to Sportquest Holidays. It offers travelling anglers the chance to fish the fish-rich waters of Northern Norway for a whole host of species to record-breaking sizes. The trip utilises the best guides, top-of-the-range boats, and deluxe apartments and is tailored to those looking for the best.
With the range of first-class amenities on offer, ensuring we have the very best fishing to match would only be correct, which is precisely what we have done. The island of Soroya, where our camp is based, is one of Norway’s most famous sea fishing destinations. Primarily famed for its winter Skrei Cod fishing, it produces more Cod over 60lb each year than anywhere in the world. However, it’s also an incredible all-year-round destination for giant Halibut, which grow to sizes of well over 2m in length, colossal Coalfish, dustbin lid-sized Plaice and deep water Wolffish and Redfish.
Throughout the years, our previous trips to the island have rewarded hundreds of anglers with new PBs, and it surely will be soon that one of our customers returns home with a new world record. The question is, could it be you?

Soroya is famous for three main species: Cod, Halibut and Coalfish. However, many other species are also on offer, including Haddock, Wolffish, Dabs and Plaice, all of which grow to epic proportions.
Resident Cod can be caught all year round, with fish between 10lb and 40lb common, with even bigger specimens landed every season, especially during the Skrei Cod run. When targeting these, we recommend looking for fish-holding features such as underwater pinnacles with deep areas on either side. All fishing gets done on the drift, and the primary tactic is to use a large rubber shad, something like a Savage Gear Cut Bait Herring, lowered to the bottom and then fished a few turns off it.
Halibut fishing* has been excellent, and more fish are landed every season. Once again, shads and spin fishing are fantastic tactics for these famous giant flatfish, but so is dead baiting. A popular method is a medium-sized Coalfish or Mackerel dead bait fished on an anti-twist lead.
From April onwards, good numbers of Coalfish begin to appear, with specimens of over 20lb not unusual. These are generally willing to smash anything presented to them. In the right conditions, they can also get caught in the upper layers and even on surface poppers, providing some fantastic action.
Close to the camp, many of the intimate bays offer anglers the chance to target Plaice and Dabs. These are best targeted using flowing traces or flapper rigs with smaller hooks, baited with frozen prawns.
The time of year you visit will dictate what you can catch, so it’s worth chatting with one of our team to give them an understanding of what you’d like from the fishing, and they can secure the best week for you.
*Please note that, by Norwegian law, you’re not allowed to intentionally target and catch Halibut until the 20th of April each year.
As this package is the ‘Ultimate’ sea fishing trip, no stone has been left unturned, regarding offering everything to the highest standards. We’ve already mentioned the first-class fishing, but what else is included?
The trip involves six days of fishing on the camp’s luxury flagship guide boat, the Apex. It includes rods and reels, and floatation suits, plus one experienced English-speaking guide who will drive the boat and guide you to the fish. Accommodation is in the camp’s first-class cabins, the BFA resort, and the chef cooks three meals per day and serves breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, while lunch is taken on the boat.
If you wish to bring some fish back each day, the guides will fillet, pack and freeze them for you, ready for you to take when you depart home. You’re allowed 18kg of frozen fillets per person. The package also includes final boat cleaning, meaning on the last day, you don’t have to wash down the boats; it gets done for you.
At Sportquest, as we always like to offer you, our customers a range of options and the chance to tailor your trip, and this is no exception. A whole host of extras are available, including more fishing days and/or a longer itinerary with rest days in between. It’s also possible for us to arrange private helicopter transfers. For the full list of options, please contact a member of our team.
If you’ve always dreamt of fishing on the famous island of Soroya in northern Noway, as well as our Luxury All-inclusive weeks, we also offer two others. One is fishing for the Skrei Cod during the early part of the season, and the other is our standard trip. You can see more details about each of them by clicking the links below:

At our Big Fish Adventure resort, they have some of the best fishing boats in Norway, including their flagship guide vessel, the ‘Apex’. The Apex boat is the camp’s all-singing, all-dancing guide boat and is available as standard for this package. However, there is nothing standard about it, as it features some of the most modern technology in the fishing and motorboating industry.
It features a 37-foot hull and two Yamaha 425 XTO engines with 850 HP capacity, making it an absolute dream to navigate the waters around the island. In addition to the engines, the ship also features the new Yamaha Helm Master, which is a dream when docking and fishing.
As you’d expect, no expense has been spared with the electronics. It features a triple installation with 8416xsv GPSmap chart plotters in the dash and one 10-inch screen in the front, along with B175HW transducers and L + Panoptix Livescope. A small cabin with a toilet, fridge, and heating adds a real touch of luxury.
This guide boat is truly a ‘one of a kind’ and can accommodate larger group sizes; it’s also fully guided by one of the camp’s professional guides. During specific periods of the year or on request, it’s also possible to have an extra guide onboard, creating an even more personalised experience.

Everybody in the sea fishing community has heard of the island of Sørøya in northern Norway, primarily famed for its incredible Skrei Cod fishing, for some of the most significant specimens on the planet, including the current world record. However, through the years, it has developed into a true ‘all-year-round’ destination, allowing anglers to enjoy some incredible mixed fishing.

We were exceptionally proud to be involved with the Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing Christmas Special to Norway in 2022. Being the first time the programme had ventured outside the UK, it took a tremendous amount of work to produce the itinerary and cater for the thirteen-strong production team, but it was a fantastic couple of weeks away. If you enjoyed the programme, here is more information on Paul and Bob's trip and the itinerary it followed.

Aa-gård fishing camp is situated in Lavangen, in Troms og Finnmark county, in northern Norway. Thanks to the protection from the surrounding mountains and topography, the destination is almost one hundred percent' weatherproof' - whatever the weather, it's possible to fish nearly every day of the year.

Mikkelvik Brygge is protected by the large islands of Rebbenesøya and its smaller neighbour Hersoya. As a result, the coastal waters close to the camp are generally calm, whatever the weather and very few fishing days get lost throughout the season. It's famed for its Skrei Cod fishing, as well as its fantastic Halibut and Plaice fishing.

Rognsund, located in Rognsundet in the southwestern part of Seiland, is Norway's eighth most significant island and the second-largest in Finnmark, behind only Sørøya. A beautiful island destination, the sheltered waters are home to abundant numbers of Cod, Halibut, Wolffish, Ling, Redfish, and some of the very best fishing spots get found within a stone's throw of the camp.
