Sette Cama, Gabon Fishing Report 28th January 2025

As we reflect on another captivating week of Sette Cama fishing highlights, week 11 brought a mix of challenges and memorable moments. With 10 new clients joining our fishing camp, the week began with anticipation and excitement. However, despite nearly perfect conditions, the unexpected absence of baitfish posed a unique challenge for anglers eager to explore these renowned waters.

The week started with high hopes as our new clients arrived, ready to cast their lines into the rich waters of Sette Cama. Yet, the sudden disappearance of mullet and other baitfish—a crucial food source for predatory species—made fishing particularly challenging. This anomaly required our team and guests to adapt their strategies, testing their resilience and creativity.

Despite the hurdles, perseverance paid off. Several stunning threadfin, with their golden hues shimmering in the evening light, were successfully landed. Snapper also made an appearance, providing excitement and valuable lessons for our anglers. Adding to the thrill, sessions targeting jacks yielded excellent results, showcasing the strength and tenacity of these powerful fish.

One of the week’s highlights was an intense battle with a massive bullshark weighing over 200 kg. The adrenaline-fuelled encounter left a lasting impression, demonstrating the raw power and diversity of Sette Cama’s marine life.

Each evening brought the awe-inspiring sight of tarpon leaping from the water, their silver bodies catching the fading sunlight. Although these majestic fish eluded capture, their presence underscored the vibrancy of this unique ecosystem.

Sette Cama is more than just a fishing destination; it’s a hub for eco-tourism in Gabon. Nestled within the Loango National Park, this area is celebrated for its pristine beaches, diverse wildlife, and commitment to conservation. From elephants roaming the coastline to vibrant birdlife, Sette Cama offers visitors an unparalleled connection to nature.

As week 11 concludes, we carry forward valuable lessons and cherished memories. While conditions were tough, the camaraderie, laughter, and sheer thrill of the chase enriched our experience.
