The salmon season is on in Iceland!
The 2025 salmon season is officially underway – and what a start it’s been! We kicked things off at Urriðafoss Falls, one of Iceland’s most exciting early-season beats, and the river has delivered in full force. Since opening on June 1st, anglers have already landed a total of 183 salmon, with consistent action every single day.
The atmosphere has been electric by the riverbanks, and with such strong early numbers, the outlook for the summer is truly promising. There’s no better way to begin the season than with fast action, bent rods, and smiling faces!
Now we turn our attention to the legendary West Rangá River, which officially opens on June 20th. Salmon have already started making their way upstream, as seen on the fish counter – and everything indicates that this will be another incredible season on one of Iceland’s most productive salmon rivers.
