Make Friends with the Wind!
That was the key lesson of the week! The group from the UK had to manage strong winds while fishing in low water conditions. Yet, somehow, they all pulled it off!

Despite facing real gales on some days, with winds exceeding 70-80 km/h, we still managed to catch a good number of sea-run brown trout in every pool. Some remarkable fish were landed, especially in Mandela, Meteorite, and Bridge—three of the most famous pools at Bella Sofia Lodge.
The Gallegos River demands an understanding of both casting technique and fly placement. In this respect, the proper casting angle is absolutely crucial. The entire group mastered this challenge, and their success reflected it!

Water temperatures ranged between 8-12°C, with crystal-clear conditions. Most of the time, we tied small rubber-leg nymphs (#10 or #12) to the end of the tippet, saving the bigger flies for the late hours when leeches and Sunray Shadows proved highly effective.

We anticipate more water in the coming weeks, as we’ve noticed heavy rainfall in the western mountains.
We’re excited to welcome the new groups soon!
