Bonaventure & Salmon Lodge Fishing Report 21st June 2024

Welcome to the 2024 Atlantic salmon fly-fishing season!

This much anticipated time of year has finally arrived! Our teams at Camp Bonaventure, Salmon Lodge and The Club on the Bonaventure are eager to catch up and thrilled to welcome back our guests who feel like family.

Your presence truly enriches our camps, and we are grateful to be a part of your cherished traditions. Our dedicated team of management, guides, and lodge staff eagerly awaits your arrival, ready to provide an exceptional and personalized experience.

At the heart of our lodge is a management team that meticulously oversees every detail, ensuring your stay is seamless and unforgettable. Our professional guides are passionate about sharing their extensive knowledge of the rivers and the art of fly fishing. With years of experience, they are skilled in helping both novice and seasoned anglers enhance their techniques and make the most of their time on the water.

Our lodge staff is the backbone of our operation. From the moment you arrive, they ensure you feel right at home, providing attentive service with a genuine smile. Together, our team is united by a common goal: to offer you an unparalleled experience that blends the thrill of fly fishing with the comforts of home.

Our rivers are in good condition however water levels are a little on the low side for this time of year. The Bonaventure River, renowned for its crystal-clear waters and prime sight-casting opportunities, ranged from 86 to 47 cubic meters per second. Fresh salmon have been seen entering all three rivers since the beginning of the season. The Grand Cascapedia is running around 38 cubic meters per second but rising with the rain received last night. The water is dark tea colored at the moment but should clear up over the next few days. The Petite Cascapedia is in great shape running from 48 to 33 cubic meters per second this week. Our anglers have had a fantastic first week on the Bonaventure River, the Petite Cascapedia and the Grand.

The salmon’s fly preference this past week has been John Olin, Out to lunch, Stone Ghost, Blue Charm and Green Machine.

We are excited to embark on this fishing season with you! Thank you for being a part of our 3Camps family and may this season bring you beautiful memories, new friendships and a couple salmon along the way.

To health, happiness and tight lines!

Julia Coull
