Our last week on Cosmoledo took place during the new moon spring tide of March. With the new moon falling on the second day of the week, most of our fishing days were influenced by the strong movements of the spring tide, which gradually eased into the more subtle neap tides by the final day on the water.
The weather throughout the week proved to be quite testing, with some wind and the odd rain shower. Albeit the weather, the group remained in good spirits, pushing through the elements, and some great fish were seen and brought to hand.
A special mention goes out to Tom, who caught his very first Giant Trevally this week during his debut trip to the Seychelles. Congratulations, Tom, on ticking another incredible species off the list—it’s always a special moment landing your first GT! The rest of the group made the most of the opportunities available, targeting what they could in the variable conditions. A few GTs were brought to hand, along with some solid Bonefish that provided great action on the flats.
Ian ended the week on a high note, having a fantastic final day. He successfully hooked and landed an impressive 55 cm Permit, followed shortly by a stunning Moustache Triggerfish—two highly prized species in one session! Congratulations, Ian, on an epic finish to the week!
