Cosmoledo Atoll Report 28th November to 5th December 2020

We have all been waiting with bated breath for the Cosmoledo season and when you see how the opening week went, you’ll understand why! We will now hand you over to the head guide for his weekly report! –

28th November to 5th December 2020

The start of the Cosmoledo season will be one that is spoken about for a long time. We welcomed some familiar faces and some new faces for the opening week for arguably one of the most amazing weeks which was coupled with great tides, wonderful weather, and sensational fishing.

Starting off the new Cosmo season was Michael Sarkesian, with limited fly fishing experience went from strength to strength landing some good fish in the beginning of the week and then cracking the one metre+ mark not once but twice with a 104 cm and a 117 cm GT. What a wonderful achievement so early in the season!

A special mention must go out to Chantel who once again showed her tenacity to defy all limits, she managed to land 20 + GTs for the week. Amongst the mix was a sneaky 110 cm GT and a magical Emerald Parrotfish, this being her second Parrot this season.

Mike early in the week, fishing with Serge, managed a 109 cm GT amongst the 20 + other GTs that were landed. Serge putting the guys on the fish that day, helped Ian Hodge into a giant Permit of 74 cm. Triggers were being difficult but David Powter managed two Moustache Triggerfish in one afternoon and Josh Worthington and Darren DU Plessis added to the Triggerfish tally.

The day of the week and fish of the week happened midweek with Josh and Darren. The morning started with Josh landing a 64 cm permit by 8:45 am and then moved onto a 119 cm GT on the popper. Not to be outdone Darren landed a record-breaking GT of 141 cm, truly a fish of a lifetime. Showing once again Cosmoledo is the true land of the GT.

Good memory’s and unforgettable moments taken home by all.
