The fishing this week at El Pescador has been incredible, with the biggest slam week of the summer season!

Well, what a week it’s been here at El Pescador! First of all the weather has been very settled, warm, with mostly sunny skies and light winds and secondly, the fishing has been absolutely off the scale! This week has been one of our most productive weeks of the summer season and our biggest slam week. Our anglers achieved an incredible nine slams and two super slams, and there’s been lots of giant Tarpon and Permit across all the flats.
What Guests Were Catching
Bonefish
More than 280 bones were landed for the week, most were in the 2-4 pound range.
Permit
35 Permit were landed.
Tarpon
30 Tarpon were landed. The largest fish was about 50 pounds.
Other species
Two Snook and anglers landed some Jacks, Snapper, as well as big Barracuda.
Grand slams
Nine grand slams with 2 super slams! – Greg M. 4 slams with Captain Gordy; Forrest H. 2 slams and 1 super slam with Captain Gordy; Brian C. 1 super slam with Captain Michael; Nik R. 2 slams with Captain Kristian; Trevor G. 1 slam with Captain Emir and Capt. Cesar.
Flies That Worked
Bonefish: Christmas Island Specials in gold, pearl and pink sizes 4 & 6, and Crazy Charlies.
Permit: Mantis shrimp, rag head crabs and Flexo crabs.
Tarpon: White bunnies, chartreuse and black/purple bunnies are the flies of choice.
