Olderø Lodge, Fishing Report 5th September 2025

The group from last week continued their hunt for big Atlantic Salmon this week. As last week ended on a high note, we were hoping for more of the same. And that’s exactly what we got. River conditions were spot on, flowing at around 20 cubic meters per second, with a steady temperature of around 10 degrees. With the start of our main run of fish really kicking in, it was only a matter of time before more Salmon would be landed in our guides’ nets.

Joe and his dad Phil were here visiting us for the first time and were in for a real Lakselv treat. On Monday morning they were fishing in Zone 1, and it did not take long for Joe to hook into a nice fish that he unfortunately lost. Not long after, he had another chance. This time the fish stayed on and turned out to be a really nice hen, weighing 8.6 kg.

In the afternoon, it was George’s turn to encounter some big fish. First, he landed an 88 cm female, and only a short time later, he landed his second one — a 100 cm, 9.5 kg fish. What an afternoon for George and what a start to the week! Oliver had been around for all the fun without catching anything himself. That would change mid-week, just hours before his flight out of Lakselv. Swinging his fly through an area that had been very productive, he finally got his chance. The line tightened up, and the battle began. Oliver, a fishing guide himself, soon realized that he had hooked into a really big fish. After a short and intense fight, he landed his biggest Atlantic Salmon yet — a perfectly shaped female of 96 cm and 11.8 kg. What a way to end his first stay at Olderø!

The next days stayed stable, and Joe kept at it, landing three more fish — an 8 kg, a 9.8 kg, and, to finish off, another personal best at 11 kg. All fish were, of course, carefully handled and released back to their rightful place.

An awesome week with really great fishing and lots of Salmon entering the river. Looking forward to seeing what next week will bring.
