This week was nothing short of incredible, with multiple big Giant Trevallies, flats slams, and some truly monster Napoleon Wrasses, just to name a few of the highlights. We were joined by a fantastic group of anglers this week: John, William, Mark, Philip, Michael, and Bob. They brought their A-game to the water, and the results were nothing short of spectacular, making for an action-packed week of fishing.
On the very first day, each angler managed to land their first Bumphead Parrotfish. This is a rare achievement and something that made the day even more special. What made it even more exciting was that Michael, Bob, and John all managed to complete a flats slam on day one. For those unfamiliar, a flats slam involves landing a Bonefish, a Triggerfish, and a Giant Trevally—all in a single day. It’s no small feat, and to see three anglers achieve this on their first day was impressive!
John had an absolutely phenomenal week. He started strong, landing two giant Giant Trevallies over the one-meter mark—one at 101 cm and the other at an impressive 105 cm. However, the day wasn’t without a bit of frustration as he lost an enormous Giant Trevally when his fly line snapped during a powerful run. Despite that setback, his week was capped with a truly unforgettable catch—a 103 cm Napoleon Wrasse. This massive fish was a true monster and definitely one of the highlights of the trip! His father, Bill, had a fantastic time as well, landing several Giant Trevallies throughout the week, along with four Triggerfish and a Bonefish. On top of that, Bill managed to complete his own slam on one of the days, adding to the excitement of the trip.
Mark and Bob, fishing as a team, had a great week on the water too. Both anglers managed to land a few Giant Trevallies, with Mark securing a particularly impressive 104 cm Giant Trevally, a catch he’ll surely remember for a long time. Bob also had a great day, managing to complete a flats slam on one of the days. His slam consisted of a Bumphead Parrotfish, a large Yellowmargin Triggerfish, and a Giant Trevally—quite the accomplishment!
Brothers Michael and Philip had their hands full with a steady stream of Giant Trevallies, Bumphead Parrotfish, Bonefish, and Triggerfish. Philip had a particularly memorable catch when he landed his biggest Yellowmargin Triggerfish of the week, an impressive fish measuring 51 cm. This was also his largest Triggerfish overall, making it a highlight of his trip. Michael, not to be outdone, also set a personal best by landing his largest Bonefish and Giant Trevally of the week, with his Giant Trevally measuring in at 101 cm—a new personal best for him.
Despite the challenging weather conditions at times—some rough winds and scattered rain—the team pushed through and managed to land some truly incredible catches. The variety and size of the fish landed were a testament to the perseverance and skill of the anglers. It’s always a pleasure to see such diverse catches, from the powerful Giant Trevallies to the elusive Bonefish, and even the hard-fighting Triggerfish. Each day was a new adventure, and despite the weather, the results exceeded all expectations.
By the end of the week, we had seen some incredible fish and experienced some unforgettable moments. The anglers left with big smiles, great memories, and a collection of personal bests, making this week one for the books.
