The water levels continued to drop steadily throughout the week, reaching the low levels that seasoned anglers know well. While this created challenges for the mothership’s navigation, it also meant that prime spots for hunting trophy peacock bass were exposed, setting the stage for an action-packed week.

Despite a slow start due to low water levels and super warm temps, anglers quickly adapted, finding their rhythm and pushing their limits against the river’s giants. His perseverance paid off when he hooked an impressive 18lb peacock bass—a feat that would be the highlight of any angler’s trip. But the excitement didn’t end there. In a quiet lagoon, a colossal surface strike on his popper reverberated through the water, signaling one of the largest explosions seen on the Marié. Staying calm, Ryan and his guide carefully played the fish, eventually landing a 91cm (2.98ft) and 24lbs monster peacock bass, setting the bar high for future weeks.
