We are back! Kendajm Lodge 4th to 11th July 2021 – Kendajm Fishing report

What a week full of fantastic fish, including some massive Wolffish hitting the bank! This is one lodge we are extremely excited about in the next coming months!

4th to 11th July 2021

The global pandemic has given the private, indigenous waters of Kendjam some much needed rest, and our well-rested fishery provided some impressive numbers of fish landed in the first week of our season. We are excited to report that the fish were healthy and of good size, all released back into the waters of the Iriri River to swim again. Water levels are just perfect for the beginning of the season.

The weather at Kendjam has been terrific, with sunny days and 28C, poppers and other topwater flies were on the menu for monster Wolffish. The water has been relatively clear, and we are also glad to report that there were several silver Pacu eating vegetation under the trees, as well as rubber Paco eating algae that has begun to grow off the rocks.
Pacus and Mantrinchas were caught sight fishing as well, and although the peacocks were slow to eat, dropping water levels indicate that as the season progresses, the fishing will pick up substantially.

Here are some impressive week one stats on fish count and fish size:
Total number of fish landed: 357

Biggest fish landed: Wolf Fish (81 cm) by Celso Spinelli
Species:

Peacock Bass: 58 cm

Mantrinxa: 50 cm

Pacu Borracha: 38 cm

Pacu Prata: 31 cm

With four anglers from the USA and four from Brazil, the first week of our season is off to a phenomenal start. If the first week is any indication of how this season will turn out, our future guests are in for a trip of a lifetime!
