Customer Captures – Fish With Us, Fish With The Best – June 10th 2025

This week has been an excellent one for fishing around the globe, and for our customers who have been travelling with us, experiencing some remarkable sessions and creating holiday memories that will last a lifetime.

Below, you’ll find a few more details about their trips, which are examples that reinforce our belief that when you fish with Sportquest, you fish with the best.

Matthías with the biggest fish from the opening day – 96cm.

The Salmon fishing season is now underway in Norway and Iceland, and in both countries, the opening weeks have been promising, with signs indicating an exciting season ahead.

In Iceland, our good friends and partners at West Ranga have reported that fish up to 96cm have already been landed, and good numbers of fish have been caught from Urriðafoss, including 12 fish on the first day. There have also been lots of fish making their way through the fish counter at Árbæjarfoss – which is unusually early and a fantastic sign for the coming season.

West Ranga doesn’t open its doors for another week or so (June 20th), so if you’d like to join us this year, we still have a handful of rods remaining. For more information, please contact us using our dedicated online enquiry form.

Here’s a nice fish landed during the first week of the season at Austnes Lodge.

In Norway, it’s been a similar story… at Austnes, fish to over mid-doubles have graced the banks, and our good friends and partners at the lodge wrote:

“Here everything is fine, and we are having a good start of the season, with 6 Salmons landed so far this week. The photo is of a fish we landed last night, and 2 more Salmons landed this morning!

While on the Aelva River, or the Åbjøravassdraget as it’s also known, in the opening few days, seventeen Salmon were landed between just four rods, with a significant proportion of these into double figures, with a top fish weighing in at 9kg.

Here are a couple of nice fish landed from the latest addition to our Atlantic Salmon fishing portfolio, the Åelva River.

Whilst on the subject of Norway, our sea fishing group at Vesteralen have enjoyed a great start to their guided week with nice Halibut, Cod and Ling. We received a lovely email and some nice pictures from travelling rod Max, who simply wrote…

“We’re having an amazing time mate, regards Max”

If you’d like to join us on a trip to Vesteralen, we have both standard weeks (self drive boats) and fully guided weeks available next year, depending on your preference. Browse our full array of Norway Sea Fishing Tours.

Finally, we must mention Nigel and Anthony who were fishing with us in Valencia this week, as on Monday they enjoyed a truly red-letter session, boating two giant Bluefin Tuna weighing in at an incredible 200kg and 300kg!
