Our good friends and partners at Nordic Sea Angling have shared an important update regarding new tourist fishing regulations in Norway, designed to help protect and sustain the country’s exceptional fisheries for future generations.
Here’s what’s changing:
- As of August 1st 2025, all anglers will be required to report their catches daily.
- From 2025, an age limit of 12 years will apply to qualify for the 18kg export quota per person.
- Stricter documentation requirements will be in place at border crossings.
Export quotas will gradually reduce: - 15kg per person from 2026
- 10kg per person (twice per year) from 2027

At Nordic Sea Angling and here at Sportquest Holidays, we fully support these new rules. They reflect a shared responsibility to protect Norway’s fish stocks and promote sustainable, ethical fishing practices. These changes align with reductions already made in the commercial sector and ensure we’re all doing our part to preserve this valuable natural resource.
This is about more than just numbers; it’s about maintaining the fishery for years to come. Overfishing, poor compliance, and a lack of control can threaten the industry’s reputation and the experience of anglers who care about the environment. By embracing these new measures, we ensure that future visitors can continue to enjoy Norway’s breathtaking scenery, pristine waters, and world-class fishing.

Rest assured, these new regulations won’t affect your ability to bring home a taste of your adventure. Sharing fresh, self-caught fish with friends and family remains a cherished part of the experience, something we value just as much as you do.
To make things easier, Nordic Sea Angling offers a simple, mobile-based system for daily catch reporting. It only takes a few taps to log your daily catches. At the end of your trip, you’ll receive official documentation verifying your catch records and compliance, ready for presentation at border control.
We’re proud to partner with operators like Nordic Sea Angling, who lead the way in sustainable travel and responsible angling.
We look forward to welcoming you to Norway.
